The Cranston Bulldogs held on to an 8-7 win over Smithfield.

In the first inning, Cranston jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a key hit by catcher Evan White two-run, two out single.

However, a scrappy Smithfield team erased that lead with a five-run inning of their own in the top of the 4th, knocking out Cranston starter Anthony Decotis.

The game MVP would be relief pitcher AJ Greene who came into the game, pitched out of a bases loaded jam with no out and gave up only one earned run over 3 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Pitcher Mike Smith came on in the top of 7th and got the final out of the game, stranding the tying on run second base, for his first save of the season.

Behind the strong pitching by Mike Smith and timely hitting, the Dawgs ran their seasonal record to 5-0 with an 8-2 win against a solid Avenger team.

Mike Smith (3-0), who went the distance, struck out seven and allowed just four hits.

Key RBI singles by Ethan White, AJ Greene, and Anthony DeCotis allowed Cranston to take a five-run lead which they never relinquished.

Defensively, Anthony Nardolillo played a sterling 1st base for the Dawgs .

On June 29th at Bishop Hendricken High School, Flood Ford Auto defeated Chariho 8-0. With the win Flood Ford improved to 2-1 on the season.

Devin Glen started on the bump for Flood Ford and pitched shut-out ball for 5 and 2/3s innings. He allowed just one hit and struck out eleven batters.

Yanni Fotopoulus got the final four outs to close out the win.

Flood scored three runs in the third, highlighted by a perfectly placed bunt for a base hit by Will Mascena.

Flood scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then, two more runs in the fifth.

Chris Manzo, Will Mascena, Christian Buterra, Jude Monti, Matt Wellington, Damon Buchanan, Jack DePalma and Nolan LaPerche scored runs for Flood.

Last Wednesday, the Bulldogs downed Slocum Baseball, 14-2.

Last Wednesday, the Cranston Bulldogs outlasted Chariho, 14-7, in a game played at Cranston West.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 2 innings; Charlie Adams got a key hit with a two-run run single to right .

However, a scrappy Chariho team fought its way back to opportunistically cut the deficit to 7-6 .

However, pitchers Anthony DeCotis and AJ Greene shut down the green and white over the last three innings.

In the fifth inning, Cranston padded their lead with a key hit by Mike Smith who delivered the big blow with a bases clearing double to left field.
