In last Saturday’s heat (6-25), the Bulldogs scored thirteen runs in the bottom of the first inning against Coventry and coasted to a 16-0 victory.

That was more than enough for pitcher Mike Smith who threw a three-hitter over 4 1/2 innings for the victory.

Kayden Santurri and Anthony Docotis lead the Bulldogs hitting barrage with combined 5 hits (one double, four singles, two walks, five runs scored and 4 rbi’s). Also, Smith chipped in with three of the Bulldogs eleven hits.

Playing in one of the hottest days of the summer last Saturday (6-25), Westerly defeated the West Warwick Connie Mack team in a slugfest, 17-16.

The game, which featured a combined 33 runs on 24 hits and 16 free passes, was actually tied at 4-4 after five innings before the tempature and teams heated up for 25 runs in the final two innings.

Both Luke McAllister (Westerly) and Josh Pedus (West Warwick) both it grand slams for their respective teams in the seventh inning. McAllister’s blast provided the Bulldogs what looked like a 17-6 cushion in the top of the seventh inning, while Pedus’ blast cut the lead to 17-16 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Dean Pons Jr., the Division II Cy-Young Award winner and All-State candidate, ended any more threat by striking out the last batter of the game to preserve the one-run victory.

Offensively, West Warwick received hits from Quinn Kortick (2/4, one run and one rbi), Josh Pedus (1/3, one home run, three runs and four rbi’s), Nathan Hunt (2/5, one double, two runs and three rbi’s), Zack Lawrence (2/3, two runs and one rbi), Karl Swanston (1/3, two runs), Dylan Provoyeur (1/1, one run scored) and Camden Diffley (1/3, one run and one rbi).

For Westerly, they received solid games from Pons (1/4, one run and three rbi’s), Burdick (1/2, one double and four runs), Tria (2/4, one run and one rbi), Garbriele (2/5, one run and two rbi’s), Fernando (1/4, two runs and one rbi), Pearson (2/4, two runs and one rbi) and McAllister (2/4, one home run, two runs and five rbi’s).

Led by the solid pitching of Logan Dean and Nathan Hunt, West Warwick defeated Warwick PAL, 9-2, in Connie Mack action on June 22nd.

Dean, who worked the first three innings, allowed one unearned run, while striking out two batters and Hunt, who pitched the middle three innings, held PAL scoreless.

Offensively, the black and orange, who did benefit from six errors, made the most of their opportunities with timely hitting. Leading the way for them were Dylan Lombari (1/3, one run, two solen bases), Brendan Griffin (1/3, three runs, 1 stolen base), Calvin Battersby (1/4), Nathan Hunt (1/3, one run, one rbi and three stolen bases), Nick Brown (2/3, two doubles and two runs scored) and Maverick Morgera (1/2, one waalk and 1 stolen bases.

For Warwick, Matt Colvin had an rbi single and Wheeler had two hits and two runs scored in the lead-off spot.

On Wednesday, June 22nd, Flood Ford Auto defeated the East Greenwich Avengers 6-2 at Bishop Hendricken High School.

Nolan Laperche started for Flood; he struck out four, gave up four hits and allowed only two runs in three innings of work. Gian Lepore, relieved Laperche in the 4th and worked out of a bases loaded jam. Over the final three ininngs, he allowed no runs and struck out four batters.

Flood got on the board in the third by scoring three runs on key hits by Will Mascena (opposite field single).

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Chase Bedrossian knocked in two of three runs with a single to left.

Aiden Power celebrated his birthday with two hits, two walks, and three runs scored to lead the EG Avengers over the Westerly Bulldogs, 13-3.

Also, Ryan Marcantonio had two hits and three runs scored for the Avengers.

On the mound, Bodie Kaiser and Evan Macaulay (9 strikeouts in four innings of relief) combined for a four-hitter.
