Game Two: Flood Ford 10 West Warwick 1
Flood Ford advances to State Final by winning series, 2-0.

Led by the strong pitching of Chris Manzo and Ben Picone, Flood Ford (top seed) defeated the fifth seed West Warwick, 10-1, winning their semifinal series.

Manzo, who gave up only one run on three hits during the first five innings, picked up the victory. Ben Picone, who struck out four batters and gave up no runs, struck out four batters.

West Warwick scored first in the bottom of the second inning when Calvin Battersby scored on a single by Brendan Griffin.

In the top of the fourth inning, Flood Ford tied it with two outs. Jay Pilderian doubled and scored on timely hit by Mike Traupman.

In the top of the fifth inning, Hendricken contingent went ahead when Mason Broomfield scored on perfectly place bunt by Gian Lepore.

Unfortunately for WWCM, the “flood” gates opened when Flood Ford took a commanding 7-1 lead when Pilderian hit a bases clearing triple off the centerfield fence.

In the top of the seventh inning, Flood added three more runs when Dan Dalessio, Damon Buchanan and Ben Piccone crossed home plate.

West Warwick received a solid effort from starter Logan Dean. Over the first five innings, the righty allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out four batters.

Offensively, the black and orange received hits from Zack Lawrence (2/3; five hits in two games), Calvin Battersby (1/3, one double) and Brendan Griffin (2/3).

Narragansett/SK advances to State Final by winning series, 2-0.

Game One: Flood Ford 13 West Warwick 3
Flood Ford leads the series, 1-0.

Led by the hitting of Will Mascena (two hits & two rbi’s), Matt Wellington (two hits & two runs scored) and Chris Manzo (one double, one triple & two runs scored). All three pictures in the Flood Ford album below.

Down 5-0 in the top of the third inning, WW scored two runs on hits by Zack Lawrence (double), Josh Pedus (rbi triple) and Logan Dean (single). Later in the inning with two runners in scoring position, Gian Lepore made the game’s defensive play of the game with a diving catch of a Nathan Hunt low-liner to right field.

Mason Broomfield, who gave up two runs in the first four innings picked up the victory. Lefty Devin Glenn and Gian Lepore pitched well over the final three innings.

Offensively WWCM received sold nights from Zack Lawrence (3/3, one double & two runs scored) and Josh Pedus (2/3, one run scored & two rbi’s).
