When does the Recreation Softball season start and end?
Following registration in late-January and early-February, the Recreation Softball season kicks off in April – beginning with the Softball / Baseball Parade – and games continue through early-June culminating with the All-Star Game and playoffs on Softball Weekend!
Note: For the older divisions, girls must also attend the pre-season player evaluations which are held in early-March.
What do I do if I missed the Recreation Softball registration weekends?
Once registration for Recreation Softball opens, you can register in person daily at the Maplewood Recreation Department or online here. If you have any difficulty registering for Recreation Softball, then please contact the MSO Softball Committee for assistance.

Does my daughter need to tryout to play Recreation Softball?
No. The Recreation Softball program is open to all girls from Kindergarten to 8th Grade who live in either Maplewood or South Orange. Any girl who is interested in softball can participate in the Recreation program – there are no tryouts.
Note: As the girls progress to the older divisions, they are required to participate in evaluations in order to help form fair, competitively balanced teams.

What is the age cut-off for playing Recreation Softball?
Recreation Softball divisions are based on a girl's grade in school rather than by an age cut-off. The youngest division - T-Ball - is intended for girls in Kindergarten, but Pre-K girls may enroll if they will be 5 years old by the start of the Recreation Softball season.
Girls can continue to play Recreation Softball through the 8th grade.

What is the earliest time on a Saturday morning that a game would start?
What is the latest time on a Saturday afternoon that a game would end?
Saturday game times vary and may be different from week to week. The earliest a game will start on a Saturday will be 9:00am, and the latest a game will start on a Saturday will be 4:00pm (ending by 6:00pm).
Once the teams are set (in mid-March), a detailed game schedule will be created and posted online (see the Schedules & Standings page). Naturally, the dates and times for games may change in the event of rainouts or other unforeseen circumstances that require games to be rescheduled.
