Information about Sept. 13 Ed Sias Cross Country Invitational Meet
All runners in good standing will attend this meet. The race schedule starts with a community/coaches race at 8:30am, and then the various boys races. The girls races start at 11:30 until the conclusion of the meet around 1:30.
Visit the official website of the meet for the order of races and other details about the Ed Sias Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13.
BUS INFORMATION: (updated 9/12)
All BOYS will meet at 6:50am in the NORTH parking lot (across from the main campus). Buses will leave at 7:00am. Do not be late! The boys team will set up our "camp", walk the course, and get ready for their races. All GIRLS will meet at 8:50am, in the same location, with the bus leaving at 9:00am. The girls will join the boys team, learn the course, and prepare for their races.
We are making this change so that the girls do not have to sit around for 4 hours prior to their first race. It is still a requirement for athletes to ride the bus, ANY exceptions must be approved in advance. Due to the above changes, the boys team will be excused at 12:15, or after the girls varsity race. They may choose to stay, ride home with parents, or ride a bus back to campus. There is a lively awards ceremony at the end of the meet that runners may wish to attend.
There will be TWO bus departure times. The first bus will depart the course after the girls varsity race at approximately 12:30. The second bus will depart after the awards ceremony at approximately 2:30. Boy runners may take either bus.
OTHER INFO:
Parents are welcome, and encouraged, to come cheer. The course is a large loop, there are several spots to stand at to see the runners a couple times.??
Lastly, race assignments will be posted 9/10 at practice and before Saturday on a handout below this article.
Mustangs right at home in Oak Hill Park - MV Invite Results
Images from the 2014 Monte Vista Invitational - 9/2/14 at Oak Hill Park
The host Mustangs had an exceptional day on the course today, as 19 runners earned top 15 medals and both the girls and boys teams ran the fastest combined team times (top 5 runners)! It has been many years since both squads finished so high - a testimony to the talent and hard work put in during the summer and early season!
Temps eased from the day before, although it was still hot for the first few races. There were over 20 teams that sent runners to the line today, and the starting line featured the usual mad dash to get position before the funnel effect of the park's bridge. Race after race, the Mustangs got good early position so they could run relaxed during that flat, fast, first mile.
Below is a listing of the top 5 Mustangs in each of the 8 races. Full results can be found in the handouts below, or by clicking here.
Congrats again to all the new team members who ran their first official cross country race, as well as the veterans who set big PR's today.
Up next - the Ed Sias Invitational at Hidden Valley Park in Martinez 9/13. Buses leave at 7am!!
