Subject: Cross Country Updates - EBAL Championship Week!
Parents and athletes -
We
are in the last week of the season for the Frosh / Soph and JV teams.
Below are some important announcements concerning this week - please
take a minute to read through this note.
1. Car Wash Update:
Despite the rainy weather the day before, we were able to hold our car
wash on Saturday as planned! A huge thanks to our Athletic Booster
President Mike Aha, who helped us set up AND run the car wash. And of
course, to our great parents who helped out and helped buy tickets!
We raised over $1500 for our budget. If you did not turn in your
ticket money, please plan on doing so on Monday so we can close out this
event. Remember, all athletes were asked to sell tickets, whether you
attended the car wash or not.
2. Practice Alert for Tuesday, Nov 4th:
We
are taking a bus to Shadow Cliffs park on Tuesday, Nov 4th, to allow
the team to preview the course we will race on on Friday. We have one
85 passenger bus reserved, so we can take most, but not all of the
team. The coaches are asking for the following people to make this trip
with us:
- All Varsity runners
- The top 7 (or more) projected
scorers for the FS and JV teams (based on previous races - the coaches
will identify you if you are not sure)
- ALL athletes who are new to the team and have not been to Shadow Cliffs before.
After
these groups, we will fill seats for anyone else who wants to go down
and revisit the course. Those who know the course well, or those who
can not be away from MV on Tuesday, will stay behind and do a separate
workout.
We will leave PROMPTLY at 3:30. I would anticipate that
the bus will return to MV between 6 and 6:30 pm. Please make plans
accordingly. It is important to our title hopes, to have the team
familiar with this course.
3. Carbo Load - Thursday Nov 6th.
We are planning to hold a Carbo Load on Thursday, Nov 6th at Oak Hill
Parks picnic area. Please check the Volunteer section of the team web
site to sign up. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0548aea82da46-20146
4. EBAL Championships: Friday Nov 7th. The meet starts at 1:00 PM. The order of races is:
Frosh Soph Boys’ Race 1:00PM
Frosh Soph Girls’ Race 1:30PM
Junior Varsity Boys’ Race 2:05PM
Junior Varsity Girls’ Race 2:35PM
Varsity Boys’ Race 3:10PM
Varsity Girls’ Race 3:45PM
Awards follow the conclusion of all races
All
athletes will be excused after Brunch, and the Buses will leave MV at
11:00 am. For most of the team, this is the only time they have missed
school for XC. Please make sure that they make appropriate
arrangements with their 3rd thru 6th period teachers. Report any issues
to the coaches. All team members are expected to be on bus. Athletes
MAY leave the meet with parents - AFTER THE AWARDS CEREMONY.
