Lexington 3, Lowell 1 — The Minutemen (13¬5¬2) advanced to the final behind a pair of goals from junior Sagan Patarroyo¬White in the first game at Manning Field. With a 2-0 Lexington lead in the 58th minute, Lowell picked up momentum on a goal from senior Mayele Malango. The Minutemen, however, settled down and
“You are in the semifinals of the North, so you know that when you go up by a lead, you gotta change your tactics a little bit to give yourself a little bit more defense than attack,” Lexington coach Keith Beaty said. With just over two minutes to play, the Minutemen sealed the win on PatarroyoWhite’s second goal, assisted by sophomore Sancho Maroto, who scored Lexington’s other goal in the second half.

Lexington High boys soccer tops Billerica in playoff opener

The Lexington High boys soccer team advanced to the Div. 1 North quarterfinals
on Friday afternoon with a 1-0 win in Billerica against the seventh-seeded
Indians.
Lexington, the 10th seed, advances to play second-seeded East Boston on
Monday at East Boston Stadium at a time that has yet to be determined.
At 15:07 of the second half, the Minutemen scored the only goal of the match
when senior Hagop Kouchakdjian put away a chance in front of the BMHS goal
created by a long throw-in by sophomore Sancho Maroto.
An LHS defense led by senior Nic Barbesino, senior Alex Lerner, senior Aram
Havan and senior Jesse Strod took care of the rest in front of senior keeper
Adrian Porras.
After a scoreless first half, the intensity and scoring chances increased in the final
40 minutes.
Lexington sophomore Jaeho Chung and Maroto both shot just wide with
chances in the second half and Kouchakdjian had a great bid with eight minutes
left, but Indian goalie Kyle Canario made an eye-popping stop on a low drive.

Billerica simply couldn’t create many quality chances against Lexington despite
the constant efforts of senior Gill Tuiyott and standout junior Matteo Cugno up
front.
The Indian defense was kept busy throughout the afternoon, but the reliable
Indian defense, which helped turn an 0-2-2 start into an 11-5-2 regular-season
record, hung tough for most of the day led by a foursome of senior Chris Derosa,
senior Brandon Murphy, senior Connor Fitzgerald and senior Tom Casey.
