LHS Freshmen

Game schedules for all three LHS teams are hosted at BigTeams. These schedules are maintained by the LHS Athletic Department and represent the best “official” game schedule for each team.All boys soccer teams can be found by starting at https://lexingtonathletics.org/ and selecting Fall → Soccer and the team whose schedule you want to look up.

Once each team has a team liaison, they will generally be more trustworthy than the school populated calendars with updated field locations, directions and such so you should make sure the team liaison has a way of contacting you.

New this season, you can now add these calendars to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook and Android. Instructions to do so can be found at: https://bigteams.force.com/support/s/article/calendar-subscription

You will need to create a login for bigteams before you can subscribe to one of the calendars.

I have subscribed via Google Calendar on a computer and this has made the calendar available through the Google Calendar app on both iOS and Android. Please let me know if you run into any issues with this.

Did your player not make one the teams, but still wants to play soccer in Lexington in the Fall? LUSC has a team for you!

TRAVEL SOCCER FOR HIGH SCHOOL:

Attention all high school soccer players that will not be playing for LHS this fall. LUSC has a casual, low time commitment, fun offering for you as described below. We hope to field a high school boys and girls team with the first game being 9/15 and could also use a supervisor for each team.

Grades 9-12/U15-U18 – $110
Sunday games and 1 weekly team practice
Dates: 7 weeks, 9/15 – 11/3 (no game Columbus Day weekend)

All new travel players are required to purchase a uniform kit as part of the registration.

Deadline to register: September 5, 2019

Players are required to wear the official jersey, shorts and socks to all games. If needed, you can order the uniform kit during the Travel registration process. For more information, see: https://lexingtonunited.org/lusc-uniform-information/

Just a reminder that the season kick-off meeting will be held today (8/27) after practice at 5.30pm at Lincoln Fields. All players and parents should attend.

The Booster Club will be there to explain what we do to support the teams during this upcoming 2019-2020 season. There will be plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved, from acting as a team manager, photography, hosting team dinners to supporting fundraising and banquet efforts.

We want to remind you of some important dates coming up:

FRESHMEN LUNCHEON

8/21 Wednesday, Commons I @ LHS – Freshmen Student-Athlete Luncheon

All 9th grade student-athletes signed up to play a fall sport are invited for lunch with LHS captains and coaches.

BOYS TRYOUTS 2019:

• Thursday (8/22) Freshman 1 – 3pm V/JV 3:15-5:15

• Friday (8/23) Freshman 1 – 3pm V/JV 3:15-5:15

• Saturday (8/24) Freshman 2 – 4pm V/JV 4:15-6:15

Make sure to submit a current physical to the school before tryouts!

Tryouts will be led by coaches Dastan Pakyari and Paco Maroto (Varsity), Andre DaSilva (JV) and Jay Eidson (Freshman).

Coach Keith Beaty will not be returning this year to head the boys soccer program as he has accepted a position with a soccer club to pursue other career goals. We wish him the best of luck and are happy to continue the boys team coaching under the expertise of Coaches Pakyari and Maroto, who have been an integral part of Keith Beaty’s team over the past years.

BASELINE CONCUSSION TESTING

SEASON KICK-OFF MEETING

Next week after tryouts, we will host a kick-off pizza party at Lincoln Fields following 8/27 Tuesday practice for all players and parents.

We hope you and your parents can join us as the Booster Club will be there to explain what we do to support the teams during this upcoming 2019-2020 season. There will be plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved, from acting as a team manager, photography, hosting team dinners to supporting fundraising and banquet efforts.

It’s hard to believe but the fall season is approaching quickly. We therefore wanted to send out another reminder for several important items:

If you have not signed up for the preseason clinic from August 17-20, please register here ASAP as the fee will increase from $260 to $290 for any payments not received by July 20th!

Make sure you join the LHS Soccer 2019/2020 Facebook group to receive updates on captains’ practices and the functional training with Paco Maroto (you will have to create a Facebook account first if you don’t already have one)! [Note: This group is for players only, not parents or fans. If you have trouble using the link, please send a friend request to one of the captains first. They can add you to the group.]
