LHS Freshmen

With three weeks to go before tryouts are scheduled to begin, we thought it would be a good time to send the following announcements/reminders:

1. The Pre-Season Clinic begins Saturday 8/19. The cost is $275 and all players must be registered. Please go to lhssoccer.teampages.com for schedule details and the registration form. We will also be requiring all players’ parents to sign a medical waiver. The waiver will be forwarded early next week by this Yahoo Group email. It will also be posted on the website next week. We will also make it available at the Lincoln fields immediately prior to the start of the clinic on the first day.

2. The tryout schedule has been set for the following dates and times: August 24, 25, & 26 at Lincoln Street. Freshmen tryouts will be held 10-12 AM and JV/Varsity tryouts will be held 3:30-5:30 PM each of the three days.

3. Coach Beaty has forwarded the attached Summer conditioning program and the program’s ethos.

Please look for more announcements as we approach the season. In the meantime, please continue to have a happy and safe summer.

In keeping with the mission of the LHS Boys Soccer Booster Club of helping our boys play at the highest levels of competitive soccer, we have again arranged for a pre-season soccer conditioning clinic. The clinic is an opportunity for all players to work together, play together, improve together, and build chemistry to get ready for the fall season. We encourage all returning and incoming players to participate, if at all possible. Please note that this clinic is not limited to boys planning to try out for LHS soccer, or even attending LHS.

The clinic will be run again by Gary Crompton, Director of the Soccer 101 Academy. Gary has been a professional player and a college coach for 15 years at Harvard University and currently is Men’s Soccer Head Coach at Bentley University. The clinic will be held at the Lincoln Field Complex in Lexington. The clinic will be held from Saturday, August 19 through Tuesday, August 22, 2017, 10AM-3PM, except Sunday, when it will run from 12-5.

NOTE: This clinic is NOT the LHS Soccer tryouts. Tryouts run Thursday, August 24; Friday, August 25; and Saturday, August 26. Participation in the clinic does not guarantee a spot on the Varsity, JV or Freshman roster. MIAA rules forbid the LHS Coaches from participating in any way in the clinic.

Tryouts for the LHS Boys Soccer teams will take place on August 24-26th 2017 at Lincoln Fields, 122 Lincoln Street, Lexington, MA 02421

Thursday & Friday:

• 10 AM-12 noon (Freshmen)
• 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM (JV/Varsity)

Coach Beaty has scheduled the sessions for the older boys to accommodate the SAT exams on Saturday morning, the test

We are the champions!

Lexington defeated Westborough 2-1 to become the division 1 MIAA state champion for the first time. Congratulations to our players on a great season culminating in an achievement that will go down in Lexington history. As the players headed home, our own Lexington police department provided an escort from the 4/225 Bedford St exit to the LHS parking lot.

One more time our boys bested the competition, Braintree, with a score of 2-1. They now advance to the State final.

The last time Lexington made it to the finals was in 1985 under Hall of Fame Coach Robert Hartshorn. Anthony Clough’s uncle, John Clough, was the captain of the 1985 team. In that game, Lexington lost 5-1 to St John’s. Lex has never won the state championship.
