Great Start to the Season!

Posted by Balam Willemsen at Sep 11, 2017 6:15PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

All three teams came away with solid wins in their home openers against Stoneham. Great work boys!

The Varsity team wore their yellow laces for Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer on Friday and the team has so far raised over $300 for pediatric cancer. Donations continue through the season and donate through your player’s site.

An interesting article from the Boston Herald was sent in by Paco Maroto http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/high_school/2017/09/boys_soccer_preview_lexington_looks_to_hold_onto_crown

The road to the Division 1 state championship runs through Lexington.

Last season, the Minutemen put everyone on notice after emerging as the No. 10-seed from a difficult North bracket to capture the sectional title before knocking off South champion Braintree in the state semifinals. Lexington finished its title journey with a 2-1 victory over Westboro in the state final.

With the return of several key players, Lexington should once again be a threat to compete for more championship silverware.

Onward and upward with 6 more games this week.

P.S. Don’t forget to establish your GiveStep pledges to raise additional funds for the scoreboard on L2.

As you might expect, today’s season openers against Melrose have been postponed to a later date.

With our first JV and Varsity games coming up this week and the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Go4TheGoal game on Friday it’s a good time to remind everyone of the two major fundraisers for the season.

Go4TheGoal Pediatric Cancer Fundraiser

p.This one will be driven primarily by the boys, and many have already set up their own sites. See the portal here: https://donate.go4thegoal.org/lhssoccer Please donate through the players’ sites, or at the Varsity game on Friday.

GiveStep

p.As mentioned at the meeting this vehicle is to raise funds for the scoreboard on Lincoln 2, but also serves as good motivation for the teams. I added specific links to the the Varisty/JV/Freshman pages pointing to the team generators.

Varsity: https://givestep.com/team/lexington-high-school-varsity-soccer-team

JV: https://givestep.com/team/lexington-high-school-jv-soccer-team

Freshman: https://givestep.com/team/lexington-high-school-freshman-soccer-team

Hit the “Give Now” button. Select the statistic you will donate from (goal, win, clean sheet) and specify the `Lexington High School Boys Soccer Booster Club’s 2017 Season" as the Cause. Shoul dlook something like the screenshot attached. You can specify a maximum donation dollar amount or specify that the donation will end automatically when the season is over. You can also change the donation at any point during the season.

REMINDER: Tricon Store is Open Until 9/10

USING THE TEAMPAGES CALENDARS

Posted by LHS Boys Soccer Booster Club at Sep 3, 2017 12:21PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Pre-season is almost done, so we’re entering the regular season.

This is a reminder that regular practice times will not be entered in the club or team calendars, only exceptions. Regular practices for the season run Monday-Friday through October 27th any day when your son’s team does not have a game scheduled.

Regular Practice TImes

Varsity: 3:30 -5:30 PM @ Lincoln 2.

JV: 3:00 – 5:00 PM @ Lincoln 2. (At least for the next few weeks Coach Jay expects to run 2 hour sessions)

Freshman: 3:00 – 4:30 PM @ Center Field (Inside Track).

Using the team calendars

You must access the Team calendar for your son’s team by first selecting the team from the submenu above. Once there you should see a “Team Calendar” Link. Anyone can print that calendar from that link.

Joining the team (optional)

From the team page you should also see a “Join Team” link on the right. Joining the team will give you the ability to use the Teampages App for iOS/Android to view the team page and sync calendars to your mobile phone. (You can also use this access to add the Teampages calendar to your Google Calendar or iCloud account so that it shows up on all connected devices).

NOTE: You cannot sync the calendar only with your computer. Calendar Syncing ONLY works from the iOS/Android app once you have joined the team. Hit the Events link in the app and you should see a “Sync” button in the top left.

Stumbled upon some really high quality soccer at Lincoln Fields this morning.

Nigeria Soccer Federation USA is hosting their annual tournament in our backyard! http://nsfusa.us/ (view on a computer, the mobile site hides too much information). Teams from around the USA and from Nigeria are competing. Players seem to range from amateur to semi-pro, but the level of play we saw was really quite good.

It’s definitely worth dropping in and watching if you have nothing else going on. I could not find a 2017 schedule, but one of the players that I spoke with said they should be there all day tomorrow too.
