A Heartfelt Thank You

Posted by Jay Hertzler at May 15, 2015 7:22AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

To the Lady Titans LAX Family,

In thinking back to last night’s banquet, I realized that in my haste to keep the banquet moving along in our short time allotment, I did not express my appreciation for more people in the program.
First, let me say my heartfelt Thank You to the Club Board, the endless and tireless volunteers, the phenomenal group of assistant coaches, parents, and players. Last night, I forgot to say “Thank you” to our two team managers (Danielle Cobbett and Carleigh Belz) for all of their help during practices and getting the field ready for home games. You help was very appreciated. I also wanted to say a huge “Thank You” to Michele Cobbett, as she made my job a great deal easier by volunteering her time and talents to everything from managing the Saver Card sales to helping with team pictures to helping with the banquet…all while being the lax club treasurer.

Secondly, I wanted to say a heartfelt Thank You to the wonderful group of assistant coaches on this team. Your love and passion for this sport are unmatched. You are the perfect group of men and women to not only teach brand new players to play this game at a high level so quickly, but all of you do a wonderful job coaching veteran players how to get better. I could not be prouder of the group of coaches we have, and thank you for working so hard for these girls and this program.

Next, I want to say Thank You to all the outgoing seniors. I am proud of the young women all of you have become, and I am excited to see how the next chapter in your lives will treat you. Please stay in touch, don’t forget that you’ll always have a place in the Lady Titans family. It was an honor and privilege to coach all of you. Thank you for choosing lacrosse. I hope you got as much out of this program as you hoped you would. To the parents of the outgoing seniors, thank you for all of your positive support, whether it was just for one season, or four (or anywhere in between). It was a joy to have your daughters as part of this program, and they will be missed. Thank you for trusting us to coach them.

To those players that are planning to return next season, remember that the 2016 season starts now. Work on the things you know you need to work on, stay in shape, put you lax stick in your hand often, seriously consider participating in the off season sessions, and recruit your friends to play.

Have a great summer to all of you.

Sincerely,
Coach Jay

This Week in Girls LAX - Week of 11 MAY

Posted by Jay Hertzler at May 10, 2015 6:11PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

I hope all the mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Here’s the breakdown of what’s going on this week:

Monday 11 MAY – Our final game of the season vs LSN. The gametimes were pushed back an hour, so the JV game will be at 6:30pm and the Varsity game will be at 8:00pm. Both games will be at LSN’s sod stadium behind their football stadium. We have received a lot of rain over the last few days, but I have not heard of the game being cancelled. Come to the game wearing your dark blue uniforms. This will be LSN’s Senior Night.

Tuesday 12 MAY – No practice

Wednesday 13 MAY – No practice

Thursday 14 MAY – End of Season Banquet. The girl’s banquet will start at 6:00pm at the LSW PAC. The boy’s team will eat during our banquet. Once we are done, the boys and girls will switch, and we will eat during the boy’s banquet. The dress code is “something nice”….please make sure your outfits are “presentable”

Friday 15 MAY – No practice….Season is officially over.

Open Items:

- Annual Boys vs Girls Scrimmage. The boy’s team may have a playoff game, so I am waiting on word from Coach Rogers on what date would be good for his team to scrimmage us. Stay tuned.

- 1st Annual Alumni vs Varsity game: The date is set for 30 MAY at 7pm. We have permission to use the stadium, and I have referees lined up. Provided we get enough alumni to play, we should have a wonderful game.

That’s it for now. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

This Week in Girls LAX - Week of 4 MAY

Posted by Jay Hertzler at May 3, 2015 8:20PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lady Titans Lax Family,

Here are the upcoming events for this week. The season ends next week, so we are almost done.

Monday 4 MAY : Practice at LSW, then team dinner at Maj Rasdall’s House afterwards. His address is 117 N. Winnebago Dr, Lake Winnebago, MO 64034. He has a heated pool, so bring a bathing suit if you want to swim.

Tuesday 5 MAY: Varsity-only Game vs Olathe @ 5:30pm at the ODAC (Olathe District Activity Center). The address is 21201 W 159th St, Olathe, KS 66062. For us to get to the ODAC in time for warmups, we will be leaving LSW at 4pm. If your daughter needs a ride, please let the coaching staff know ASAP. I would like the entire team there in case we have an opportunity to play JV players in the varsity game.

Wednesday 6 MAY: JV-Only game vs St. Teresa’s Academy @ 6:00pm at STA. The address is 5600 Main St, KCMO. It will be on the corner of 55th and Main St. The easiest way to get there is to take 71 HWY north, turn left on 55th, and take it all the way to Main St. I would like the entire team there as well. Varsity will not have to dress out, but be there to cheer on the JV team.

Thursday 7 MAY: Practice at LSW.

Friday 8 MAY: Off Day.

Saturday 9 MAY: Respite Care Volunteer Effort. Lakeland Community Church hosts Respite Care once a month. This is a time where the church will supply care for special needs children for 3 hours so their parents can have a “date night”. This does qualify for volunteer hours. I have 4-5 girls who have already expressed interest. Parents and other family members are welcome to volunteer as well. If you are interested, please send me a text at 816-977-5707. It will be from 5-8pm at Lakeland Community Church.

That’s it for this week. Next week we will have the End of Season Lacrosse Banquet on Thursday evening. Mark your calendars. Thank you for all of your support throughout this season.
