Lady Titan Family,

If you would like to volunteer, please let me know. Please note that we will not know what seed our Varsity team will be until Friday 5 MAY after the last regular season games are played. Details below:

Location for all tournament games:

Sponsors:
Sponsorship opportunities to support growth of lacrosse in our region. If your company would be interested in participating as a sponsor, benefits include: banners in the stadium (provided by sponsor), table or booth inside the stadium (provided by sponsor), ability to share promotional item with all teams (water bottle, t-shirt, key chain, etc), announcements over PA during each game, welcome announcement over PA by sponsor’s rep before each game, visibility on KCMGLA’s website and social media. Suggested donation level $500. Please contact Brian Cox at 816-536-1994 or briancox2468@gmail.com with questions.

Weather:
As we experienced last year, the games will be played in rain. 30 minute delay for lightning. Due to field scheduling and MSHSAA state playoffs, all efforts will be made to play the games as scheduled. As a last resort, organizers may move game times and days as required by weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The schedule was developed with an eye toward avoiding major schedule conflicts for teams. However, if a team is unable to play a scheduled game, the losing team from its previous game will advance in the bracket. For instance, if Team A defeats Team B in round one, but Team A is unable to field a team for round two, Team B will advance to round two. If one of the top 6 seeds is unable to play its first game, the seventh place team in the standings will be invited to play in the tournament.

Gate fee:
$5 for each adult per night … college coaches, high school students and children free. The gate fee is to help offset the cost of field rental. Please expect the gate fee and bring cash to the game.

Spectators:

All spectators will be required to be in the stands on the East side of the field. No non-participants are allowed in or around the driveway area on the West side of the field. Last year, we had a challenge with spectators sitting behind the benches. The West side of the field is for players and coaches only.
If fans are sitting on the West side, you will be asked to move to spectator seating.
Each team is responsible for the behavior of its spectators. Verbal abuse of officials, players or coaches will not be allowed and good sportsmanship is required.

Concession stand:
No concession stand is planned. Outside food is allowed into the stadium.

Scorer’s table:
Each team is responsible for keeping its own scorebook. The highest seeds’ scorebook will be considered the official scorebook. Disputes will be settled by the league-provided field manager or ranking board member.
Each team can have two people at the scorer’s table (one to keep the book and one to spot). No coaching from the scorer’s table please.

Trainer:
A trainer will be provided by the league at no cost to the participating teams.

Volunteer opportunities … free admission for volunteers if they are scheduled in advance:
Admission gate … need 2-3 people per night to work the gate to collect gate fees. League to provide table, but bring your own chairs.
P.A. announcer … need someone to announce the games for any or all of the three nights. Starting line-ups, goals scored, sponsorship announcements, etc.
National Anthem singers … a great opportunity for players, students or parents to open each of the three nights with the national anthem.

The goal is to have volunteers work for at least one night (two games) instead of game-by-game if possible.

That’s it for now…

Postseason Playoffs are Drawing Closer

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 24, 2017 8:48AM PDT

Happy Monday Lady Titan Family,

I have had several parents reach out to me about the postseason so they can plan accordingly, so I will share what I know…

JV:

  • For the JV division, the league only has the Championship game with #1 vs #2 (End of season rankings), and a champion is determined. For those new to the club, we are the defending champions as we defeated last season’s #1 seed (Park), and won the championship as the #2 seed. That game will be on 11 MAY, most likely around 5 or 5:30pm at Rockhurst University.

Varsity: We won’t know which nights we will play until the regular season is completed on 5 MAY and we know what seed we finish the regular season at.

  • Varsity playoffs are a little different. Here’s how it’s broken down:
    - The top 6 teams at the end of the regular season make it into the playoffs
    - #1 and #2 get a first-round bye
    - On 8 MAY, Quarterfinals will be #3 vs #6, and #4 vs #5 at Rockhurst University. Times TBD
    - On 9 MAY, Semifinals will be #1 vs lowest remaining seed from Quaters, #2 vs highest remaining seed from Quarters.
    - 11 MAY Championship game. It will follow the JV Championship game, plus All-Metro Announcements at Rockhurst University.

Our season will be 100% complete on 11 MAY. Hope that helps.

This Week in Girls LAX - Week of 24 APRIL

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 21, 2017 7:15AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lady Titan LAX Family,

What a week we just had. Our Varsity had a tough two day span early in the week with back to back games between Shawnee Mission and LS North. We had a wonderful come from behind win vs SM, and a tough streetfight against LSN…I believe there is a chance we will face either one (or both) of these teams in the postseason. Our JV continued to roll with wins vs SM, LSN and lastnight’s shutout vs St. James.

Here’s what’s coming up for the next week:

  • Sat 22 APRIL – Varsity play date vs STL teams is cancelled.
  • Sunday 23 APRIL – We originally had a team feeding scheduled for this date, but the parent that volunteered cannot host anymore. Anyone willing to host, please contact me. We have a couple of parents willing to help, but we just need a place to eat. Sunday feedings are usually at 6pm.
  • Monday 24 APRIL – 3 GAMES vs St. Thomas Aquinas at Aquinas HS (11411 Pflumm Rd, Overland Park, KS 66210). The game times are as follows:
    LSW JV vs Aquinas JV1 @ 6:15pm.
    - LSW JV vs Aquinas JV2 @ 7:15pm
    - LSW Varsity vs Aquinas Varsity at 8:15pm
It looks to be a long night, but it’s our only game night for the entire week, so let’s push through it as best we can. I will be leaving the LSW Parking lot at 5pm to go to Aquinas. Any parent willing to drive please meet me there. This will be our final away game until the postseason. I have asked the Varsity girls to not show up until the start of the 2nd JV game, so Varsity girls should plan to arrive at 7pm. These will be the final regular season games for the JV team.
  • Tuesday 25 APRIL – Practice
  • Thursday 27 APRIL – Practice
  • Friday 28 APRIL – Night off!
  • Saturday 29 APRILPROM! Have fun!

We are doing great! Let’s keep playing hard and finish strong. For those who are wondering, the post season dates are MAY 8 (Varsity quarterfinals), MAY 9 (Varsity Semi-finals), and MAY 11 (JV and Varsity Championship games). All post-season games will be played at Rockhurst University (1100 Rockhurst Rd, Kansas City, MO 64110). I will let everyone know the times when we find out what seed we are.

St. Louis Tournament Updates - TRIP CANCELLED

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 19, 2017 7:09PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lady Titan LAX Family,

As of this evening, both LSW and Shawnee Mission have decided to withdraw from this weekend’s playdate in St. Louis. There were a couple of factors leading to this decision, but the main reason is due to the weather forecast in STL for Saturday. The forecast had the weather at 90% of rain, highs in the low 50’s and windy…truly these aren’t the conditions the players nor the coaches wanted to be in for 8 hours, and then drive home for 4 hours in wet clothes.

Also, we have players banged up and nursing injuries, and we really need to finish the season strong…that being said, we are going to use this time to get rested up and heal.

JV has a game at 6:30pm on Thursday at LSW vs St. James….let’s keep this thing going.
