News and Announcements

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope all the Lady Titan LAX Dads had a wonderful Father’s Day yesterday. We appreciate all you do for your daughters and are glad you are part of our lax family.

Due to the fact that ULAX pushed the league schedule back a week, it looks like we have 3 games total for this week according to the schedule on their website. Here’s the breakdown:

Goal Diggers (Varsity)
- Thursday 25 JUNE at 6pm vs BV Titans. Field #10.

Mesh Addicts (JV)
- Tuesday 23 JUNE at 6pm vs KC Yellow. Field #12
- Thursday 25 JUNE at 7pm vs LSN/BV Titans. Field #12

Please arrive onsite at least 30 mins prior to your game times. In preparation for your first games, this is very important because we need to distribute the game pinnies to everyone.

I have also attached the field map again for everyone’s reference.

Also, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the ULAX COVID guidelines they will be using during games:

ULAX HEALTH GUIDELINES TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19:

-Players, coaches and staff should have a face covering (e.g., gaiter) or mask readily available at all times;
-Players, coaches and staff should wear a face covering (e.g., gaiter) or mask when social distancing is not possible;
-Pre-game, in game and post game team/group huddles are discouraged;
-No shared water coolers.

IN GAME:

This includes maintaining social distancing of at least 6 feet of separation from those individuals, wearing a face covering or mask, and avoiding sharing utensils or other common objects with those individuals.

SPECTATORS:
Groups of spectators should avoid being in a group larger than 10 individuals. Within these groups, individuals should, to the extent possible, minimize in-person contact (i.e., maintaining 6 feet of separation) with others not in the individuals household. When maintaining social distancing is not feasible, other methods (e.g., wearing a face covering/mask) should be utilized.

That’s it for this week. Hopefully I’ll see everyone at the games! I am not sure that there are bleachers onsite, so I recommend bringing lawn chairs just in case.

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

An email just came out from ULAX about tomorrow night’s games. Please read the email below:

Hey ULAXers! Please note that we have updated the schedule by postponing tomorrow night’s games until next Thursday, June 25th. In place of the games tomorrow night, we are asking each team to come out to check in with our managers/grab your jersey and to also use your field time for a 50 minute practice/shoot-around (please see designated times below).

WE WILL NOT BE ALLOWING ANY SPECTATORS TOMORROW NIGHT.
We did not anticipate the number of spectators that came out to the field last night. Out of an abundance of caution, and in order to keep the number of people at the field under the recommended size for group gatherings set forth under the Governor’s Ad Astra Plan, we have made the decision to prohibit spectators from attending tomorrow’s shoot-around. We should be allowed to have spectators present at the field beginning next week when we enter phase 4 of the Ad Astra Plan.

JUNE 18TH PRACTICE SCHEDULE
FIELD 10
6:00pm – Goal Diggers and BV Titans (East Division)
7:00pm – KC Yellow and Sion (East Division)
8:00pm – SM Girls and Lees’ Summit North (East Division)
9:00pm – No Pabs and FCA

FIELD 11
6:00pm – St. Thomas Aquinas and St. James (West Division)
7:00pm – Mesh Addicts and LSN/BV Titans (HS Division)
8:00pm – Pembroke Hill and Park
9:00pm – Olathe and Lees’ Summit/Lincoln

FIELD 12
6:00pm – SM Girls and KC Yellow (HS Division)

So, based on this, attendance for the players tomorrow night is optional. Dani Cobbett will be picking up the jerseys from the league.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It feels like summer is here a week or two early. If you are watching the forecasts, you’ll see that we are in the 90’s all week with the hottest day of the week being Thursday. My best advice is to hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more. What we don’t need is a heat-related health issue while we are playing. Play hard, sub often, and drink plenty of fluids.

Here are the game times for this week.
- Thursday 18 JUNE @ 6pm. Goal Diggers (Varsity) vs Blue Valley. Field #10
- Thursday 18 JUNE @ 7pm. Mesh Addicts (JV) vs LSN/BV. Field #11.

Danielle Cobbett will be picking up the game pinnies from the league representative prior to the first games to hand out to the players.

Also, remember that the LSW Coaching Staff will not be holding organized practices this week, and we will not be on the sidelines for these games until we are cleared by LSR7. Any practices this week and moving forward will be organized by the players, and communication of the practice details will come via group-text from the players.

On Thursday, if there are any parents that are willing to stand on the sidelines to help with subs (which the players can do on their own) and with monitoring of heat-related issues, please let me know. Make sure everyone brings plenty of fluids.

Below is an email from the ULAX league and their COVID guidelines. Please give it a good read so you’ll understand what’s going on when we get there on Thursday.

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

First, I want to let everyone know that our season is not cancelled, so we will play our games unless something changes drastically within the entire ULAX league. So that being said, allow me to get to the main reason why I am sending this email out to everyone.

Tuesday evening I received a phone call from our LSW Athletic Director. He had seen us practicing in Greenwood, and quickly informed me that all official school teams and club teams (which we are) have not been cleared to participate in school athletic activities. The soonest we would be allowed to meet in larger groups would be on 15 JUNE, and that is only to practice and condition. Also, he stated that my coaching staff needs to stop coaching and remove ourselves from this summer activity until we are cleared to participate by LSR7. So, what does that mean for us?

I have managed to come up with a workaround that will allow us to continue to participate. I want to be very clear that LSW nor LSR7 is to blame on this. I was monitoring Jackson County COVID guidelines, but failed to cross-reference that with LSR7 guidelines, so this one is on me. LSW is bound by LSR7 guidance, so we must follow that as well. In an effort to allow us to still play in the summer league, I came up with an idea.

Here’s the workaround:

- All coaches on my coaching staff are no longer allowed to interact with the players in a coaching capacity. This means we can’t run practices, nor can we be on the sidelines during the games.
- I have changed our team names in the league to remove all affiliation with LSW. If we are not a school team, but just a bunch of girls who happen to go to the same school, we really don’t fall under the LSR7 umbrella.
- Games will be played under these team names: Varsity = Goal Diggers. JV = Mesh Addicts. You’ll find those name in the ULAX website and in the schedules.
- During games, the girls will coach and manage themselves…which is where I am expecting the Senior leadership to shine. This is how our girls who played in ULAX last summer did it, and it worked out just fine.
- Any practices that may happen will be player-led, so as of right now, there are no longer any “official” practices at Hitt Park. If the players all plan to get together, they will coordinate among themselves.

I hope this is not too confusing, but it’s just part of the “new normal” we are still trying to get used to. Please do not see LSW nor LSR7 as the enemy here…they are just doing what they think is best for the health and safety of the girls. We have a workaround, so we don’t lose anything here but the formal coaching.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns…please feel free to reach out to me at lswhsgirlslax@gmail.com or 816-977-5707
