*** Please Read - Update from ULAX League ***

Lady Titan LAX Family,

I apologize for the second email for today. If you are participating in ULAX, please read their latest update below. It looks like they extended the deadline, and pushed the start date back. Please read:
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Hey ULAXers! This is a reminder that the registration deadline for our Men’s and Women’s/HS Girls summer leagues is currently set for this coming Sunday, May 17th. The HS boys deadline is currently set for May 25th. Players who register after the deadline will be charged a late fee and won’t be guaranteed a spot with their preferred group/team.

Please note that we have postponed the league start dates to mid-June with the HS boys running on Tuesday evenings and the Men/Women/HS Girls running on Thursday evenings. Based on Governor Kelly’s “Ad Astra: Plan to Reopen Kansas”, organized sports should be able to resume as early as May 18th; however, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the league start dates to June 16th (HS Boys) and June 18th (Men and Women/HS Girls). Given the Governor’s recent moves to loosen the restrictions, we remain cautiously optimistic that we can play out our full season this summer beginning on June 16th/18th. You can review the full Ad Astra: Plan to Reopen Kansas here: https://covid.ks.gov/ad-astra-a-plan-to-reopen-kansas/.

If, for some reason, we are unable to begin in mid-June, we will make every effort to reschedule games throughout the course of the summer and will issue a prorated refund (based on a 5 game season) for games that are not played. In the event that we are forced to cancel the league due to the pandemic, we will provide all registered players with a credit, refund or other options.

ULAX Kansas City

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope all the lax moms in our family had a wonderful Mother’s Day. It’s hard to believe that if we actually had our season this Spring, it would be over since the playoffs were scheduled for last week. With June quickly approaching (and hopefully some warmer weather), at least we’ll have ULAX to look forward to.

Here’s what I need to discuss this week:

ULAX: After some additional discussions within the coaching staff, we concluded that starting practices next week would not fall in line with the guidance from Jackson County on returning back to normal from a Social Distancing perspective. The safety of our players is paramount and we decided as a coaching staff that we do not want to put the health of any of the players in jeopardy. So, we will push the first practice back to 1 JUNE from 6-8pm at Hitt Park in Greenwood. Until then, I encourage all the players who will be participating in ULAX to get a stick in their hand and start with cradling, do wall ball and start running until we can get together as a team. If any of you have gained the dreaded “COVID-15”, it may be time to start shedding those added pounds.

Refunds: I know some of you have reached out to me about refunds. Although I am not in control of issuing refunds, the Lax Board has asked that I let everyone know that refunds are being handled by our Treasurer, who is required to work with the LSW Booster Club to get checks written and mailed out to those who requested a refund. All I can ask is that everyone please continue to be patient.

That’s it for now. If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to reach out to me.

Stay Safe!

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

I just wanted to remind everyone that the registration deadline for the summer ULAX league is 10 MAY. If you are going to participate, please make sure to click the link below and register before then. As of right now, we have over 20 girls signed up, and we would love to see more.

https://ulax.org/kansascity/women/

Please know that I do not want anyone to feel obligated to participate, so please do not feel that playing in this league is mandatory by any means. I just know that this is a rare opportunity to have a lacrosse season this year, even if it’s not like the Spring season was supposed to look like. We would love to see everyone, but I completely understand if you choose not to participate. ULAX has already stated that if we have to revert back to a Shelter-in-place order, they will fully refund everyone their entry fee.

So, moving forward, we will start having practices on Monday 18 MAY. Here’s what that will look like:

- When? Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6pm – 8pm starting on 18 MAY
- Where? Hitt Park in Greenwood. That is the park on Allendale Lake Rd. Actual field location will be determined when we arrive. Make sure to watch your speed as you drive in Greenwood…police will be there and ready for you if you are speeding.

Please make sure to wear your practice pinney for every practice.
If we are rained out for practice, we will cancel as we do not have any indoor facilities.

That’s it for now. Please reach out to me if you have any quesitons.

Hello Lady Titan Lax Family,

If you have been peeking at your calendar, you may have figured out that this week would have been the end-of-season playoffs, which would have had both our JV and Varsity teams making a run for the Championship. There’s not much more I can say that already hasn’t been said about the situation we are in with the pandemic. Hopefully it will all be over soon.

What I do want to remind everyone about is the summer opportunity to play lacrosse in the Summer ULAX League. I sent an email out last week with the details…I hope everyone can join, but I completely understand if a player does not sign up since it’s during the summer, there’s plans for family vacations, etc…

Here’s the link for registering for ULAX:
https://ulax.org/kansascity/women/

Make sure to choose LSW as your team. We plan on wearing our LSW uniforms for the league, so no need for a pinney. If you are planning on playing, but do not have your uniform, please let me know so we can arrange a uniform pickup from Coach Casie. We have had 2 pick-up sessions already, so let’s make sure to get them all picked up should we have a third one so we don’t keep asking Coach Casie to coordinate.

Deadline to sign up for ULAX is 10 MAY, so please get signed up this week so the league can start working on setting up the schedule. I am not managing registration, so I do not have a say in late registrations if you miss the deadline…so don’t procrastinate.

That’s it for now…have a wonderful week. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

Last night representatives from each HS Girls LAX team and members of the KC Metro Girls Lacrosse League met on a Zoom conference call to discuss how we want lacrosse to look like for this summer. Here’s what they all came up with:

  • Both the league and the team’s reps want the summer ULAX League to morph into a summer version of this Spring’s season. So, what does that mean? Based on the call, here’s how it was all proposed:
  • Each club would make every attempt to field both a Varsity and JV team
  • Each club would play against the same teams they would have played against during the Spring season. For us, that would be St. Teresa’s, Sion, LSN, Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission. (and maybe a team of college players if they get enough to sign up)
  • We would still compete for a Championship just like we would have during the Spring.
  • We would still hold practices, but what that actually looks like has yet to be determined as we don’t have permission to be on the fields at LSW.
  • This year’s Seniors are eligible to participate.
  • We will wear our LSW Uniforms.
  • The coaching staff is allowed to coach, which means all available coaches on the staff will be there.

Ok, so those are all the positives…so what’s the catch?

  • Each player who signs up will need to pay the entry fee of $115 via the ULAX website. Since ULAX will be running this, they will need to cover fees for the officials and fields, which is why there is a $115 cost. Since the LSW LAX Board is sending out refunds or credits for next season, you should not be in a position where you pay twice for this year.
  • There will be no home games at LSW. All games will be played at the Scheel’s Soccer Complex at 135th and Switzer in Overland Park. I believe all games will be played on Thursday evenings, but this may change.
ULAX is asking that all players who are going to register please complete the registration and payment by 14 MAY. The website is https://ulax.org/kansascity/women/ and choose LS West as your team.

So, that’s all the details. I hope all of you decide to play this summer. So far, we have 5 players who have registered. Just to be clear, this is not a school-sanctioned activity this time, it’s more like a summer league where we play like a high school team. So all the school-type things we would have done may not happen (i.e. Senior Night, End of Season Banquet).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Text me or call me at 816-977-5707 or reply to this email.
