Pacers Tie Champions With Ten 1-1

Posted by Dale Dubois at Nov 4, 2001 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers showed up at Hollis High school with only ten players to take on the division champions, Hollis Overlook. This was a surprise to all after 14 had confirmed to play. Management is looking into solving this lack of dedication for the spring season. The ten Pacers that did come, came to play and actually controlled the flow of the game early. Hollis was able to get on the board on a free kick after a weak call outside the 18. The Pacers played tough and did not give up. Joe Correai played very well in net, shutting down the Overlook squad time and again. The half would end 1-0 as the teams switched ends. The Pacers would control the second half, with the wind now at their backs, and would pressure Hollis. The Hollis team was noticeably frustrated with their play against a team of only ten. Their frustration would increase as Louie Correai found Jeff Guild open in front of the net. Jeff would bury his shot to tie the score and spark the Pacer squad. With about 15 minute to go, the Pacers would loose another player to a family obligation and would drop to a defensive mode. The Pacers would shut out the Hollis team for the remaining minutes to end with a hard earned tie, the sixth of the season. The Pacers will see some roster changes for the spring season to get more dedicated players on board. Players should check the STATS page to see how many games they have made. Those who have not made at least four games should probably give up their spot for a more dedicated player. E-mail any suggestions....

Sharby Gets Two as Pacers Tie Lowell 3-3

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 29, 2001 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Scott Sharby would get two goals as the Bedford Pacers would record their club record 5th tie this season against Lowell. The Pacers came to play, against the second ranked Lowell team with actually 4 subs. The Lowell team would score first on a blistering shot from the left back from 30 yards out. This surprised keeper, Chris Cloutier, who had an excellent game in the net. The Pacers would come back with the equalizer as Scott Sharby would net his first of two goals of the day. Scott would beat the keeper with a head ball off of a free kick from Dale about 25 yards out. The second half became very physical with the referee loosing control and the Lowell team speaking many languages. The Pacers would go up a goal of a beautiful side netting, no angle shot from Jeff Bailey after beating a defender. The play would become rough as Lowell tried to even the score. The yellow cards began to fly, Louie ran a guy and spoke a few words that were understood by the Lowell players. Then another yellow was issued as Dale headed the ball and Mario(A perfectly legal play that should have not been a yellow). There was another yellow for Rob(I think). A Red card and a shortened game would soon follow for Dale. The Pacers had enough card to open a Hallmark Store. So much for staying under ten card points. Anyhow, Lowell would tie the score and go up by one with the Pacers now playing short handed. However, the pacers would tie the score with minutes left in the game off of a free kick by Jeff Bailey that found Scott Sharby's head for his second goal of the day. This is how the score would end for the Pacers fifth tie of the season. The Pacers wrap up the fall season this Sunday with an away game against division champions Hollis at 9 AM at Hollis High School. Hollis will be moving up a division in the spring and Danvers will be moving into our division from 4N. It looks like Billerica will stay with no one being relegated from division 2N.

Bedford Pacers Tie Billerica With Only 9

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 21, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers showed up in Billerica with a record low number of players, 8 vs the 11 Rovers with four subs. The Pacers played well, actually controlling the play of the game. "It was simple, stand them up and let them shoot from 30 yards out" was the strategy that worked well. The Pacers actually scored first, with Rob Easton sending John Guild in on the Keeper, as two of the Rovers collided. This sent the Billerica players into a constant battle amongst themselves, which would continue throughout the remainder of the match. The first half would end with the Pacers up 1-0 and the long awaited arrival of Louie. With fresh legs and 9 players the Pacers pushed to score again in the second half, but, the play got physical and the yellow cards started to show, one for Dale and one for the bad boy, Rob Easton, as well. The Rovers pressured and were able to roll a ball into the Pacers net, after Chris lost his footing and slipped in the dirt. It was unfortunate, because Chris had a very good game, playing like and indoor keeper and shutting down the Rovers constantantly. A few more yellows were flashed, one more for Louie and a few for the Rovers side. This prompted a conference between the Referee and the two team captains. The Referee threatened to end the game if there was any more trouble. This put a spark in the Pacers eyes... Lets see, 9 players, end with a tie on the road, end the game early so Peter can pick up his son at Logan... Okay, Rob trips whiner #12 from behind, who in turn retaliates, which causes Dale to kick the ball into his face, Game over. The Pacers have a tough match this Sunday against the Lowell team. The Lowell team has obvious trouble on the road and has just come off a loss to division leading Hollis. So lets try to get 13 or 14 players to the game. Email your availability to Dale ASAP
Jeff Bailey would register 3 goals on Sunday to lead the Pacers to a 5-3 victory over the Peobody Sporting Club. The game, that was slated to start at 9 AM, got underway at 9:30. The Pacers starting with 10 players and Peobody with 8. The Pacers would get there 11th player soon after the start and Peobody would grow to nine. However, the Pacers would hop out to a 2-0 lead on two of Jeff's three goals, one via penalty kick. Aproximately 20 minutes into the first half, both teams were at full strength and Peobody would have three subs to the Pacers none. Peobody would get a goal back to bring the score to 2-1 before Louie Correai would score for the Pacers. The Sporting club would answer with two goals and the momentum going into the second half with the score tied at 3 a piece. Scott Sharby would end the momentum swing as he netted his first of the day. The score would remain at 4-3 for quite a while with Peobody pressuring to tie. Scott Sharby would find Jeff Bailey open up the center of the field to seal the victory for the Pacers. The Pacers travel to Billerica to take on the Rovers on their postage stamp sized field with 6" grass, Akerson Field at 11 AM. The Pacers took a beating here in the spring and will not repeat this performance. We need at least 13 players to make the trip. Email your availability ASAP. Game time is at 11 AM (not 11:20 Bruce) Directions are posted under Locations if you are driving to the field directly. Let us know. With this win, the Pacers move up to third place behind Hollis and Lowell. The Pacers have a good chance to win their last three games if they can get numbers to the games. SO SHOW UP !!!!!!

Pacers Squeek Out a 1-1 Tie with Peobody

Posted by Dale Dubois at Oct 10, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Pacers showed up in Peobody with 10 players (AGAIN!) to play the Spartans. Luckily Bruce showed up fashionably late to make it 11 at the start of the game. The Spartans would score first early on with a shot from 30 yards out that caught Chris Cloutier by surprise. The Pacers would play strong following this goal getting many chances to tie the score. It would be in the second half as Scott Sharby would crank a shot from 20 yards that would beat the keeper to his left. Both sides would try and break the tie through the remaining minutes with no success. Peobody would plink a ball off the side post with an open net and Bertie would come up just short as the game would end in a 1-1 tie. The Pacers take on the other Peobody team this weekend on home ice. The Pacers will be looking for a win to boost them up in the standings looking to make the playoffs. Looking at the remaining schedule, the Pacers have a good chance of winning their remaining 4 games. Peobody at home should be a win, Billerica is a win, Lowell has serious trouble on the road and should be a win, and We can beat Hollis. This is provided that we start with at least eleven players. That is a hint. Game is at Legacy at 9 AM that means show up at 8:45 at the latest!!
