Pacers Tie Champions With Ten 1-1

Posted by Dale Dubois on Nov 04 2001 at 04:00PM PST
The Pacers showed up at Hollis High school with only ten players to take on the division champions, Hollis Overlook. This was a surprise to all after 14 had confirmed to play. Management is looking into solving this lack of dedication for the spring season. The ten Pacers that did come, came to play and actually controlled the flow of the game early. Hollis was able to get on the board on a free kick after a weak call outside the 18. The Pacers played tough and did not give up. Joe Correai played very well in net, shutting down the Overlook squad time and again. The half would end 1-0 as the teams switched ends. The Pacers would control the second half, with the wind now at their backs, and would pressure Hollis. The Hollis team was noticeably frustrated with their play against a team of only ten. Their frustration would increase as Louie Correai found Jeff Guild open in front of the net. Jeff would bury his shot to tie the score and spark the Pacer squad. With about 15 minute to go, the Pacers would loose another player to a family obligation and would drop to a defensive mode. The Pacers would shut out the Hollis team for the remaining minutes to end with a hard earned tie, the sixth of the season. The Pacers will see some roster changes for the spring season to get more dedicated players on board. Players should check the STATS page to see how many games they have made. Those who have not made at least four games should probably give up their spot for a more dedicated player. E-mail any suggestions....
