Knights win against Patriots

Posted by Justin Lee at Mar 18, 2016 7:27AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Yesterday 3-17-16, the Patriots arrived at PAAC hoping to avenge losses from the Fall and last Spring to Kellam. However, Kellam came out strong to leave the field that day with a 15-0 win. This loss drops the boys to 1-2 overall, and 0-2 in conference play this season. In a hard fought game that saw Kellam posses the ball for the majority of the game on the offensive half of the field, the Patriots had not given up and continued to fight until the final whistle. This game had showcased the defense, especially the goalies. As our goalies had finished the game with a combined 27 saves! Miles Abernethy (16 saves), and Marco Farley (11 saves) both stood tall and held their ground in between the pipes to stop Kellam’s offense.

The Patriots have a long break before their next game when they take on Currituck High School on April 5th. We will work to improve on both of these losses as we move past one of the hardest weeks on our schedule. The team will continue to work hard in practices, and the coaching staff will continue to help out and provide guidance to the boys as we prepare for our next game!

Patriots fall to Falcons

Posted by Justin Lee at Mar 15, 2016 7:54AM PDT ( 1 Comment )

Monday 3/14/16 The Patriots traveled to PAAC to square up against Cox High School. Unfortunately by the end of the game the Falcons had come out on top winning the game with a final score of 22-9. This loss drops First Colonial to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. While the score may not accurately represent how far this team has come since the fall season, the team is continuing to improve every day. With yesterday’s score, it represents the second highest number of goals that First Colonial has scored against Cox in team history (highest being 10). Also for a reference, the goals scored by First Colonial was the highest number of goals that Cox has allowed all Season! Cox had surrendered 4 to Kellam, 0 to Landstown, and 6 to Bishop Sullivan Catholic. A few highlights to the game is that Marco Farley had made his first career start in the game and ended with 3 saves against a tough Cox attack line, while Miles Abernathy had taken over in the second half to record 9 saves. The Patriots offense was lead by Blake Taylor (5 goals, 1 assist), Crew Smith (3 assists), and lastly: Cole Tydings, Rayshawn Stevenson, John Stephenson. and Jack Stephenson all chipped in 1 goal each. Up next is Kellam High School on Thursday!
