Kellam Playoff

Posted by Daniel Unger at May 7, 2017 4:37PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Team,

Big Game tomorrow night, 7:15 on PAAC #8 against Kellam. Its been a great season but there is no reason it has to end tomorrow night. We are a good matchup with Kellam and even though we lost when we played them earlier in the season, I am confident we can win this playoff game if everyone shows up and brings their A-game.

They have a great goalie (first team all conference) so we are going to have to take good shots and focus on placement. Their offense is strongest at the midfield. I think we are going to try to play more PAT 6, with Jack sliding from the crease and locking off the ball and adjacents, especially up top. That means the middies, LSM and defense need to be in the mandown rotation with backside protecting the crease. This, if effectively played, should really limit their midfield scoring ability but makes the attack, especially from X, a threat if we are not ready for it.

I am really excited about tomorrows game. Its do or die. I know you have the ability to take it Kellam and come out on top. I have seen you guys at your best and when you play that way you are virtually unstoppable. We do however have to play at our potential and execute great fundamentals, play hard but smart, limit penalties, possess the ball on offense and play solid body position on defense.

Let’s move on to the semi-finals by taking out Kellam! Be at the field by 6:30 for the 7:15 game. Lets wear Black.

York Game Postponed

Posted by Daniel Unger at Mar 31, 2017 9:37AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Guys,

The game tonight has been postponed hopefully to be rescheduled.

Of note we are trying to get a game with Kellam on Tuesday. Either a sanctioned game or scrimmage. Will see everyone at practice Monday. Spread the word to all team mates.

This Wednesday night, our Patriots drove to Norfolk in a home game against Great Bridge. After a rough first quarter, our boys took control of the game and took home a 16-10 win! The first quarter was marked by a back-and-forth seesaw of goals which resulted in Great Bridge entering the second quarter with a short lead. Many of our players stepped up and played an amazing game in the win. Our attack was able to find the openings and capitolize on chances their defense gave to score a bunch of goals. All together, our attack had scored a grand total of 12 goals lead by Blake Taylor’s 8 goals, then followed by Ben Patrick scoring 2, and closed out with Holden Roberts and Alden Russell each scoring one. Our midfield played with heart as they pushed themselves to dominate on both offense and defense, as well as ground balls. Crew Smith had once again controlled the face-off X, while Cole Tydings and Bob Matson provided the speed and opportunities for us to control the ball on our offensive half of the field. Our defense was anchored by Marco Farley, Boomer (to me his first and last name is Boomer instead of John Polowczyk :-) ), and Jack Stephenson. It was a great win, and the kids will need to refocus their efforts into tonight’s game against York at the Yorktown Sports Complex!

A long drive to Williamsburg brought our team to the Warhill Sports Complex. The game had the Patriots arrive missing a few players to conflicts as well as injuries. But the players who arrived had arrived ready to play some lacrosse and represent the school in a great way! Unfortunately the cards where not in our favor as Lafayette took the win by a score of 14-7. Ben Kittrell earned his first start, and played great by stopping many shots flying his way. Blake Taylor led the offense netting 5 goals for FC, while Cole Tydings and Alden Russel had followed with one goal each. Jack Stephenson held down the defense causing turnover after turnover against the Rams. However the FC Patriots had learned from this loss, and after a week of practice they were ready for their next game against Great Bridge!

Goals:
Blake Taylor, 5; Cole Tydings. 1; Alden Russel, 1.

Assists:
Nick Brown, 2; Dennis “Dee-Nice” Giuffre, 1; Bob Matson, 1; Cole Tydings,1.
