BUCS GIVE THEIR BESTS VERSUS SUSSEX TECH

Despite posting 21 career-best times and three more season-best times, the boys and girls came up short at home versus Sussex Tech in cross country action Wednesday. The girls fell, 19-37, while the boys lost, 16-47. Elizabeth Butterly led the girls with a solid 21:52, while Jackie Creasey moved up on the all-time fastest list with a career-best 22:01. Erica Godwin, Marissa McDonnell, Jessica FitzPatrick, Tricia Gerken and Lindsay Kenton rounded out the varsity finishers. Andrew Meade led the boys with a strong 19:10 while Trevor Jefferson, James Starnes and Logan Moreau closed out the varsity with career-best times. George Kershaw, Kyle FitzPatrick, Alan Lane, Travis White, Alex Ingram, Anthony Kramlich and Dan Wheeler each added career times. For the girls, Alicia Sanchez, Tahnisha Colson, Jody George, Becky and Erin Clendaniel, Courtney Piper, Latrice Whidbee, Keskeda Pierre and Kayla Sturgil posted career-best times. BUCS CLIMB HILLS TO REACH 34 BRANDYWINE BESTS

Out of 39 MHS finishers, 34 ran their course-best times Saturday at the Salesianum Invitational at the hilly Brandywine Creek State Park. Elizabeth Butterly scored a medal to lead the girls to a sixth-place finish out of 23 teams, while Andrew Meade led the boys with a strong run. Rookies Travis White, Anthony Kramlich, Jody George, Kayla Sturgil and Rosalie Whitehouse earned their career-best times. BUTTERLY-LED GIRLS SCORE BIG DAY IN SALISBURY

Freshman Elizabeth Butterly became the fifth fastest girl ever at MHS with a stellar 21:07 to lead the girls to a fourth-place finish out of 23 teams at the Tidewater Classic in Salisbury Wednesday. Meanwhile, Andrew Meade helped lead 10 guys to their career-best performances. Lindsay Kenton shattered a season-best to join Jackie Creasey and Erica Godwin in the 22s, while Marissa McDonnell and Tricia Gerken each ran in the 23s. Jessica FitzPatrick closed out the varsity, while Deshauna Purnell, Candice Young and Meredith Muskovich followed with great times. Becky Clendaniel also added her career-best. Matt Esposito, Trevor Jefferson, James Starnes, Andre Purnell, Logan Moreau, George Kershaw, Julius Davis, Brian Cisneros and Alex Ingram picked up bests for the boys. Meanwhile, Trevor Jefferson celebrated his birthday with a career-best 21:38 to round out the top five for the boys, who finished 16th. George Kershaw, Julius Davis and Brian Cisneros each shattered career-best times and Anthony Kramlich earned his fastest time. For the girls, Candice Young scored a medal in the junior varsity race, while Tahnisha Colson, Latrice Whidbee and Becky and Erin Clendaniel surged to career-bests.
