Elizabeth Butterly, Jackie Creasey, and Erica Godwin each stayed in the 22s to lead the girls to fifth place at the Middletown Invitational Friday at Lums Pond State Park. Meanwhile, Trevor Jefferson celebrated his birthday with a career-best 21:38 to round out the top five for the boys, who finished 16th. George Kershaw, Julius Davis and Brian Cisneros each shattered career-best times and Anthony Kramlich earned his fastest time. For the girls, Candice Young scored a medal in the junior varsity race, while Tahnisha Colson, Latrice Whidbee and Becky and Erin Clendaniel surged to career-bests.
