Great game to day by the U11 boys vs United Brothers. Earlier in the season Falcons gave up a 5-3 loss to United Brothers but were able to redeem themselves with a 3-2 victory thanks to three goals from the brothers Eric and Owen. The game started with a a back and forth attack from both sides until Falcons gained the upper hand and controlled the midfield. Once they had control the boys were able to attack at will until they finally converted on a pass from Jonah that sent Owen on a one one break with the Brothers goalie. The goal inspired the boys and Owens brother Eric to keep up the pressure until finally Eric buried a goal on the short side of the net. The half ended with the boys well on top of their game. The scond half started and the United brother found their game for a short while and managed to catch up to the falcons on a couple of defensive errors. Shortly after, with only a few minutes to go in the half a clearing pass from Aaron found Eric on a breakaway who chased down the ball and made a last second effort to touch the ball past the goalie to put the Falcons ahead 3-2. The entire team had a great game but Jonah, Aaron, Jake, Charlie and Aidan were instrumental in making the game plan a success and of course the final scoring touch of Owen and Eric, who had their best games to date this season! Well done Falcons, Good luck next week at the Club Championships.

Falcon u11 boys learned a great deal yesterday and had a lot to think about on the way home from Abbotsford. While the score was unbalanced it only proved that the boys weren’t ready for such a strong competitor. The second half not only proved we could play with the Abbotsford team we could also dominate them. The score was tied in the second half but Falcons had the lions share of the ball and chances. Abbotsford has some real snipers that are able to score with far less chances and were able to capitalize on there chances better than our boys. What was evident to the coaches was that despite the lack of team experience the Falcons were able to adapt and out hustle the Abbotsford team which was clearly the difference in the end. I think once we have a few more games and practices under our belt well be ready to take them on again. Well done Falcons for bouncing back and not giving up. Well be ready next time.

Two weeks to the India Club tournament. The event coordinators expect close to 900 players coming from all over BC. This is a huge event for the kids and quite an undertaking for the coordinators at India Club. They have asked if we could extend a message to our membership regarding corporate sponsorship. India Club is looking for any corporate citizens that could contribute either on a donation basis or with SWAG for the players. Please contact Gary Sangha of India Club if you can help in any way. This weekend the U12 boys had a great showing at the Club Championships securing a 3 Win, 2 Tie and 1 loss record after drawing the easier of the two pools. The day started with a tie against a pooled WestVan team, followed by a win against Hawks. After a two hour break and the National teams showcase the Falcons were ready for a four game back to back extravaganza! The Falcons lost an early one to India (abbotsford) likely from sitting too long between games but came back to win the two of the next 3 games and tie the other. Everyone stepped up to play some great hockey and all contributed to make the day a huge success. Some standouts from the day include Charlie who scored 4 on the day, Simon who scored three and setup at least 3 more, Matias who also scored 2 beauties and setup another 3. Game play was possession was team Captains job, Chase Marshall and the steadfast defence of Darcy and Dominic helped keep the competition off the board. Our youngest team members Jake, Aaron and Rhys make some great passes and has some close calls at the opposition net but were not able to convert, not from lack of effort though. Great experience for everyone and looking forward to the next tournament in Surrey. The india Club tournament will be a great chance to see how we fair against the stronger surrey teams and hopefully prove to ourselves that we can play with them. Congratulations everyone on a great weekend of hockey!
