Boys played amazingly well today at u13 club championships 5 aside.
All but one game was extremely close and when challenged to play against an obviously over aged team in the blue hawks, the team played extremely competitively showing they could not only play with the boys but score and make it a very competitive game. Hats off to everyone for stepping up especially the 9 year olds who really hung in there. Owen showed great poise for his age scoring 5 goals on the day. Congratulations to Charlie on winning the MVP for falcons.

Second place Falcons secure their spot by beating third place Abbotsford 7-1. The game was dominated by the aggressive play of the falcon boys who used their two on one and passing skills to keep pressure on the opposition throughout the game. Notable standouts were Eric and Jonah in midfield who not only setup the remaining goals but combined to score 5 of their own. This is Eric’s second game in a row with a hat trick and jonah’s second game with two goals. Another standout was our new Goalie Rhys Donohue who saved the day several times in the first and second have to ensure we kept the lead. It was great to see two of our newest players, Ben and Sean each with a goal to put the nail in the coffin so to speak. Players without goals who make substantial contributions at the back were Charlie and Aaron who were kept busy with some fancy skills from the Abbotsford forwards. They showed great patience and used the poke tackle with excellent results showing great maturity. Another great win for the team and another great team effort!

Falcons boys drop 3 points to Surrey lions after going down 4 goals and rebounding with 4 of there own only to have 3 more scored on them. The next game the boys played a make up game vs panthers and won handily 6-0 and followed it up with a win against the elite selects 5-1. The boys are on there way. Keep posted.

Tough loss on opening weekend for the under 12 boys vs Burnaby. We started out a little slow and made some poor choices to start the game giving up 4 quick goals to easy give aways in our own end. Rhyse was left in a tough spot one on one with their centre forward each time. The boys rallied toward the end of the half and started the second half with a new perspective. Ryan, charlie and jonah connected on many runs to get prime scoring opportunities that ailed to end in a goal. Even after 6 corners with Jake and charlie at the helm the boys were still not able to connect. The score wound up 5-0 but the team showed its colours to dominate the second half. It was nice however to see our newest members Sean and Ryan get their first game under their belt. The big surprise was Rhyse standing in net and showing he has the skill to play the position making some key saves in the second half keeping the score at 5.

Well done everyone for a great weekend of hockey at the U13 club championships. Hope everyone had fun despite difficult competition. Lot’s of learning to be had and carry forward to the rest of the season and especially the India club tournament.
