This Week in Lady Titans Lacrosse - Week of 4 NOV

Posted by Jay Hertzler on Nov 04 2019 at 07:20AM PST in 2019 Season

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

With Fall lacrosse activities over, we are going to move into some down time. I encourage all of those players who did the Fall activities with us to find a way to keep a stick in your hand, and find a way to get some conditioning in over the holiday season so you aren’t completely out of shape by the time we start back up in January.

Here’s a list of events that are coming up, so please mark your calendars:

Winter ULAX Indoor Lacrosse League: Signups are going on right now, and the deadline is this week. This indoor league will NOT be coached by the LSW coaching staff like Fall Ball was. It will be more like “pick-up” games. There are already a handful of LSW players signed up. Here’s some text from an email from the club that is running the league:

Hey ULAXers! This is a reminder that the registration deadline for our winter indoor league is just one week away. There is still time to register with a team, group or as a solo free agent but be sure to register soon if you want to get your lax on this winter. Players who register after the deadline will be charged a late fee and won’t be guaranteed a spot with their preferred group/team. Looking forward to getting out there in just over a month!

LSW Girl’s Lacrosse Informational Meeting – 12 NOV at 7pm at LSW Bateman Hall:
This meeting is for first-time players and parents who have yet to experience a Spring season with us. We will be discussing the club, team, Varsity tryouts, how we manage the team during the season, fees, etc…and will also answer any questions. I would also ask that if you know of anyone who may be interested in joining our team, please pass along the date/time/place to them so they can attend the meeting.

LSW Lacrosse Board Meeting – 13 NOV at 7pm at LSW (Bateman Hall or Library):
This is an optional meeting for any non-Board members, but it’s a great way to get connected with the group of parents from both the Boy’s and Girl’s teams who are making the decisions on how our club is run. Currently we are in the planning stages for the Spring 2020 registrations in early December, and the Board would appreciate some volunteer help during registration. If you are willing to donate your time and talent during registration, please let me or Ronda Brown know. Some of the things we will need help with are: collecting payments, welcoming people when they arrive, selling Spiritwear, answering questions, etc…

Spring 2020 Registration
Here are the two dates:
- Saturday 7 DEC: 9am – 1pm is Day 1 of Registration for the 2020 Spring season. We are in the process of reserving a location within LSWHS…we will either be in the Library or Bateman Hall.
- Wednesday 11 DEC: 5pm – 8pm is Day 2 of Registration for the 2020 Spring season (in case you could not make it to Day 1).
New players will need to try on uniforms to get properly sized, so please be ready to try on the uniform when you arrive. New players will also have the opportunity to chose their jersey number from available numbers when they arrive.
For the new players who will be joining our family for the first time, here’s a list of fees so you can be better prepared for registration:
- Annual Club Due = $225
- Cost of Uniform of which you will own (skirt and reversible top) = $102 ($58 for the top, $44 for the skirt)
- Socks = $10/pair (we recommend 2 pairs)
- US Lacrosse Membership = $35/year. This will need to be done at www.uslacrosse.org and pay via credit card and must be valid through 1 JUNE 2020.
Also, we are planning on having Spiritwear available for ordering or for purchase (as well as the favorite swag item, the Boathouse jacket) so bring extra money.
IMPORTANTPAYMENT IS VIA CASH OR CHECK ONLY, NO CREDIT CARDS. (If we acquire the means to accept credit card payments between now and registration, I’ll let everyone know.)

One last thing: We currently have 12 players who are interested in helmets. Coach Ernie has been able to get a significant discount already, but wants to talk our supplier down even more. If you are interested in a helmet, this may be a good time to get one. If you tell me you are interested, we will order one for you and will expect payment, so please know that if you reach out to me you are “committing” to buying one.

That’s it for now. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to text me at 816-977-5707 or email me.

~Coach Jay
