What a Season!

Posted by Jay Hertzler on May 25 2016 at 06:53AM PDT in Spring 2016

Lady Titan LAX Family,

After last night’s championship, all I can say is “What a season!” When I think back on what we have accomplished as a club over the last few months, it is impossible for me to say one bad thing about how the players, coaches, parents and the LSW Board performed this season. Here’s a quick recap:

JV Team:
KC METRO CHAMPIONS!
Beat undefeated Park Lacrosse 6-5 to win the championship.
Lost only 2 regular season games by a total of 3 goals (Sion 5-6, Park 4-6).
Played in, and won, first championship game in LSW Club history.

Varsity Team
3rd place in regular season (only by Tie-breaker).
2nd highest scoring offense in regular season with 117 goals
2nd best team defense in regular season with 61 goals against
Lost 2 regular season games by a total of 3 goals (Sion 10-11, STA 8-10)
Lost in overtime in first playoff game in program history (We’ll finish the job next season, for sure)
3 All-Metro players (Kristen Cox – Attack, Syd Malcolm – Mid, Anna Kouba – Def)
1 All-Metro Honorable Mention (Katelynn Oren – GK)

I want to personally thank the coaching staff for their passion and dedication to the girls and to the success of the club. I am truly blessed to have these 4 on the sidelines with me, and I hope it’s something we can do together for years to come.
I also want to thank all of the parents for your support throughout the season. Hearing all of you in the stands during games brings a great deal of joy to us. Thanks for being the best parents in the league. Get ready to cheer even harder next season.
Last but not least, I want to thank Dean Rasdall and the LSW LAX Board for their support. The board never hesitates in finding ways to help the coaching staff with whatever we need to coach the girls. And Dean did a wonderful job all year managing the relationship with the school.

So, what’s next? I would like to recommend that the players do something lax-related between now and indoor sessions in September. Whether it’s conditioning, stick skills, joining Midwestern Force or Blue Lions, recruiting…anything is fine. Just know that we will not sneak up on anyone next season…the league knows we will show up, and we’ll show up strong and hungry for a championship. Our goal for both the JV and Varsity will be to play (and win) BOTH championship games next May…and it is totally within our reach to do so…without a doubt. I welcome the challenge and can’t wait!

Have a wonderful summer. Thank you to everyone for allowing me to coach your daughters.

Yours Truly,
Coach Jay.
