West Warwick opportunistically edged East Greenwich, 6-5, in their league opener last night at refurbished McCarthy Stadium.
The Avengers came back from a 5-0 deficit in the top of the seventh with five runs highlighted by Andy Powers three-run double.
Offensively, West Warwick received hits from Dylan Lombari (3/4, two runs scored), Calving Battersby (1/3, one run scored and one rbi), Logan Dean (2/3, one rbi), Nick Brown (rbi single), and Zack Lawrence (3/3, one double).
Nick Brown, who pitched the first five innings for WWCM, struck out nine batters and allowed only three hits.
