In their league opener, Vogie of Mt. Hope held on to an 8-6 victory over Westerly in Bristol.

Andrew Jones, who struck out the first six batters he faced, got into a jam in the third inning by hitting two batters and making a throwing error which led to three runs. However, he regained his poise and registered another three strikeouts to end the inning and finish with nine strikeouts in three innings of work.

Dayton VanAmberg came in to pitch 2 1/3 innings and struck seven batters. Holding off the Bulldogs at the end of the game were Cam Conner and Jack Standish.

Vogie jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Westerly settled in after that and tied the game at 5-5 after 4 1/2.

Back to back doubles by Andrew Jones and Matt Gale in the bottom of the fifth inning helped give them break open the game with three runs.

For the game, both Jonathan Jones and Parker Camelo led the offense with two hits a piece.

Chariho’s Justin Giles (4 IP) and Alan Carpenter (3 IP) combined for the win over Cranston.

East Providence traveled to Pocasset Field in Tiverton and picked up a 5-1 victory over the Tigers.

Led by the no-hit pitching of Gavin Rodman (9 strikeouts) and Will Rotelli (1 strikeouts), the Lions of Narragansett/South Kingstown defeated Oakers, 10-0.

The Lions offense was powered by Aidan Burdick and Zach Bianco with two hits each. Koko Kassabian had an RBI triple and Patrick Ruhle had a double.
