Lions advance to finals!

The Narragansett/South Kingstown Lions advanced to the 2021 Rhode Island Connie Mack State Championship by defeating Flood Ford Auto in their best two out of three series.

The Lions, who lost game one, rallied to win a thrilling game two in ten innings before winning game three, 9-0.

Game One:
In game one, Flood Ford ran their winning streak to twelve games with an 8-2 victory over Narragansett/South Kingstown.

Chris Manzo (winning pitcher) and Keith Daigneau (save) scattered five in seven innings of work.

In the bottom of the second inning, Flood scored three runs on on a suicide squeeze by Alex Coutcher and an Owen Leahy’s RBI single.

They opened up their lead with four more runs on five walks and a key single by Max Turner.

Jack Hornstein ended the scoring for Flood Ford with an rbi single that scored Xavier Quezada in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Game Two:
In a classic pitcher’s duel, Narragansett/South Kingstown defeated Flood Ford in ten innings, 2-1, to force a game three.

Flood scored their only run in the top of the first inning on a bases loaded hit batsman.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lions tied it up at 1-1 on a throwing error.

The scored remained 1 to 1 until the bottom of the tenth inning when Tyler Poirier’s hit scored Declan Wholey for the the walk-off victory.

For the Lions, Aiden Burdick got the win in relief of Brendan Flaherty. And, for Flood Ford, Devyn Glenn, Ben Picone and Noah Sullivan pitched extremely well.

Game Three:
In game three, Jimmy Robin’s complete game four-hit shutout punched the Lions ticket in to the championship. hits.

Offensively, they were lead by the multiple hit games of Ben Paskalides, Tyler Poirier, Patrick Ruhle, and Declan Wholley.
