In their league opener, Vogie of Mt. Hope held on to an 8-6 victory over Westerly in Bristol.
Andrew Jones, who struck out the first six batters he faced, got into a jam in the third inning by hitting two batters and making a throwing error which led to three runs. Dayton VanAmberg came in to pitch 2 1/3 innings and struck seven batters. Holding off the Bulldogs at the end of the game were Cam Conner and Jack Standish.
Vogie jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Westerly settled in after that and tied the game at 5-5 after 4 1/2.
Back to back doubles by Andrew Jones and Matt Gale in the bottom of the fifth inning helped give them break open the game with three runs.
For the game, both Jonathan Jones and Parker Camelo led the offense with two hits a piece.
