Summer practice outdoors starts June 24th

Attention Parents and Swimmers
Starting
Monday, June 24th our swim practice will be held in the mornings
at
outdoor pool. The schedule will be as follows:
Seniors, Gold and Blue
Monday
to Friday
8:30am
to 9:00am DL
9:00am
to 10:30am SW
Silver and Bronze
Monday
to Friday
10:30am
to 10:45am DL
10:45am
to 11:30 SW
Pre-Orca
Monday/Wednesday/Friday
11:00am
to 11:30am
All
swimmers excluding Pre-Orca team will have dry land (DL) before swim practice
(SW) every day.
Make sure you bring proper clothing (like t-shirt and shorts,no dry land in the swim suits)
and sneakers as well as bottle of water to every
practice.
To
all swimmers we suggest shaded goggles and please put sunscreen on before swim
practice.
In
the mornings Senior, Gold and Blue will meet by the indoor pool in the
hallway.
Silver, Bronze and
Pre-Orca will meet on the pool deck at the big outdoor pool.
Please
note, during our summer season outdoors, if it’s raining we will have swim
practices.
ONLY if it’s lightning
and/or thundering outside then swim practices will be canceled.

REMINDERS,
WHAT: Long Course Regional Championship
WHERE: Greenknoll Aquatic Center (2 Huckleberry Hill Rd.
Brookfield, CT 06804)
WHEN: Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st
Warm up
is at 7:00 AM both days (please be on the pool deck 15min prior to the warm up)

DIRECTIONS TO BROOKFIELD: Greenknoll Aquatic Center
at Camp Greenknoll, 10 Huckleberry Hill Rd, Brookfield CT 06804
I-84 to Exit 7 (US-7 north).
US-7 NORTH to first Exit, Exit 11 (Federal Road)
Take LEFT off Exit ramp
Take RIGHT on Federal Road (US-202)
Pass Costco on LEFT
In .4 miles bear LEFT on Old New Milford Road
Turn LEFT on Huckleberry Hill Road
YMCA is on right, Greenknoll Aquatic Center at Camp
Greenknoll is just past the YMCA Building, also on the right. Please enter
the second
driveway of the YMCA at #2 Greenknoll, immediately past
the building, and drive to the back left corner. See parking instructions.
PARKING
INSTRUCTIONS:
The Greenknoll Aquatic Center at Camp Greenknoll is at 10
Huckleberry Hill Road. Parking is available at the back of the Greenknoll
YMCA,
located at 2 Huckleberry Hill Rd. Meet attendees and teams
may park anywhere on the upper level lot, or for closer parking use the drive
way down towards the pond to access overflow parking on the grass near the
pond, forming two rows of parked cars, do not block the dry hydrant, which is
a big concrete circular structure in the grassy area. Do not attempt to drive
into the farm gate at #10 Huckleberry Hill Road. Once you park, walk down the
driveway towards the pond and cross over the foot bridge to the pool. Parking
instructions may be updated before the meet, in which case all attending
teams will be advised.

July 19-21, 2013 -- various locations, decided after entry is submitted
ICSC assigned to Brookfield.
Parents,
The Regional Championship entries are posted on the bulletin board
in the hallway.
Please let us know if you are planning to attend the meet (we
expect all swimmers who are qualified to swim) by Monday, July 8th.
If you can not swim at the meet
or one of those days, please scratch your name off the sheet, otherwise you
will be entered and you will have to pay for your entry.

ORCAS FIRST SUMMER MEET!
Thursday, June 27th at 4:15 p.m. (be on the pool deck at 4:00pm)
Dear Orcas,
We had a fantastic start to our summer season by hosting a
swim meet for Darien Piranha team this afternoon.
We would like to thank all Orca swimmers that swam their hearts
off and did very well at the meet.
We also would like to thank Pat G. - our team volunteer and all parent and swimmer
volunteers for volunteering their time and doing such a wonderful job.
Your
time and support for the team is greatly appreciated!!!
Let’s keep up a good job and get ready for the July 11th
meet.

on the bulletin board near the indoor pool. They are also posted on this web site - thru' links above.
We expect ALL swimmers to participate in this meet.
We are also asking ALL parents to participate by volunteering (no experience needed) and help make this a successful event!
The sign up sheet with volunteer assignments is posted in the
hallway, by Orcas bulletin board.
Please sign up as soon as you can, so we can continue planning this big event.

May 6th – first spring session practice
May 27th – no swimming (Memorial Day)
June 21st – last spring session practice
June 24th – first summer session practice (AM)
June 28th – bagel breakfast (after each groups practice)
July 4th & 5th – no practice (Independence Day weekend)
July 12th- bagel breakfast (after each groups practice)
July 19th – bagel breakfast (after each groups practice)
July 24th – Orcas family picnic at 5:30pm
July 25th – last summer session practice
* Parents – we will need volunteers for bagel breakfast and family picnic.
Also, we will need volunteers for our home meets (6/27 & 6/11).
Please let coaches know if you can volunteer ASAP.
