DO YOU WANT TO STOP ME?

Posted by Jeff Stiffler on Jul 04 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
GAME TALK! DO YOU WANT TO STOP ME? CAN YOU STOP ME? Do you want to stop me from dribbling, turning, passing, or shooting toward your goal? I am the opposing team. DO WE EVER FOCUS ON HOW MANY TOUCHES WE HAVE MADE ON THE BALL? Ø While dribbling into traffic? Ø Running to the ball? We have a tendency to run up to the ball and kick it right into the defender in from of you. HOW MANY PLAYERS HAVE DONE THIS? Why don’t you make a fake and cut and turn the ball into clear space? Ø Why don’t we make give and go passes? We run to the ball and kick it away all too much in the mid field area. We really do not look for teammates to pass to, or our teammates are not making themselves available. We do not talk amongst ourselves on the field. We seem to bicker more that talk and support. Ø There are times in our goal box that a defender is clearing the ball, and they are kicking or clearing towards our own goal. Always know where you are on the field. Ø As the Opposing Team; Please DON”T LET ME DRIBBLE RIGHT INTO YOUR GOAL AREA WITHOUT CHALLENGING, PRESSURING, OR TRYING TO TAKE THE BALL FROM ME. OBJECTIVES for THE FIRST GAME: WIN THE BALL! Stop the other team from getting in towards our goal. Slow them down long enough to get some defensive help back. WIN THE BALL! TAKE MORE SHOTS ON GOAL. Quicker speed to the ball to ensure that we win it. WIN THE BALL! Make sprint runs to the ball and make more accurate passes to our own teammates. WIN THE BALL! Continue to mark-up and apply pressure to WIN THE BALL! 1 square yard is enough room for a good player to still score. 5 square yards allows anyone to score! WIN THE BALL! GO RIDERS! WIN THE BALL; SCORE THE GOAL. (COACH JEFF)
