Late goal gets the tie for Penguin and Company...another heartbreak for Ouzo

SOCCER CITY, ETOBICOKE -
On a night where Ouzo's ironman Jesse Geisel ended his consecutive game streak at 4 years, Ouzo gave up a late short-handed goal which resulted in a 3-3 tie with the "Raging Beer Bellies", Soccer City's favourite team.

A short handed Ouzo squad were forced to call up former Ouzo Alumni's Mladen Dikic (1G, 1A) and Lanny Whelan to help out their depleted squad.  Injuries to Mike Michae[lidesMAN] (IL), Jesse "Schnitzel" Geisel (DTD), Colin "wink, wink" Wright (DTD) all picked up injuries and as a result were forced to miss a game against our long time rivals.

Ouzo opened the scoring on an excellent finish off the boards by midfielder Stu Fletcher (2G).   "We've been looking for that all year and we're finally finishing on those chances" said Stu at half time.  Fletcher's 2 goal performance put's him in the overal lead for goals this season, just ahead of Geisel and Anderson (2A).

With under 30 secs. left in the half, Ouzo gave up the lead on a counter-attack goal that left the players scratching their heads going into the break.  After the break, Ouzo gave up another goal to go down 2-1.  With there heads still high, Ouzo pushed on creating more chances as the half went on.  Dikic, who came out of retirement last night, finished his chance off an Anderson free kick to tie the game at 2 a piece.  "With him in the line-up it gives us a different scoring threat" said Wurthman after the game.  Fletcher finished off Ouzo's scoring with a goal off a rebound from one of Dikic's rocket shots.  With several chances to put the game away, Raging Bulls keeper made some excellent saves to keep his team in the game.

Just when Ouzo thought they were on the road to victory, "Doughboy" set up an unknown Bulls player who tied the game with a short-handed goal.   Ouzo's lack of concentration late in the game cost them again.  Something the fans know too much about...

This leaves Ouzo at 2-1-1 for the season with a big game next week versus Mesopotamia (3-0-1).
