Chiefs at A's, ICL Slate Victimized by Wet Grounds

Posted by Chiefs Baseball on Jun 14 2006 at 05:00PM PDT in 2010 Season
Melrose-Thursday night's scheduled ICL game between the Chiefs and the Gately A's, slated for Morelli Field at 8:00 PM, was washed out due to wet grounds.

The Americans-Cassell Club contest that was to be played at Playstead Park at 6:00 PM was also postponed.

Isolated heavy rain showers continued to hit the Greater Boston area until early afternoon and coupled with yesterday's rain it was more than the local fields could handle.

The Chiefs are off on Friday and will next play at Lexington High School against the Blue Sox on Saturday night at 7:30 PM in the first round of the Jeri DeAngelis Memorial Tournament.

Thursday's postponement was the fifth of the year for the Chiefs and their second in two nights as Wednesday's game at Cassell was also rained out.

The Chiefs pitching rotation has again been thrown into chaos. They are expected to send either Mike DiCato, (UMass-Amherst, Winthrop, MA) who was scheduled to start against Gately, or Mike Coppinger (Merrimack, Medway, MA) to the hill against Lexington. -More soon
