Walk off Homer Spoils Marsters Soild Return to Rotation, Snaps Five Game Streak, 2-1

Posted by Chiefs Baseball on Jul 15 2008 at 05:00PM PDT in 2010 Season

East Boston, MA- ICL all-star Pete John drilled a leadoff seventh inning walk off home run as the Testa Corp. Bombers came form behind to beat the Chiefs 2-1 on Tuesday night at East Boston Stadium.

The Chiefs, who saw their five game unbeaten streak snapped, led the game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before a Nick Martinho moon shot triple and a Bobby Barrett infield single tied the game at 1-1.

The Bombers comeback spoiled the return to the Chiefs rotation of Dave Marsters, who pitched well enough to win and blanked the hard hitting Bombers thru five innings plus.

The Chiefs lone run came in the first inning off Bombers starter Mike Hashem on a couple of walks and a double play ball off the bat of Justin Crisafulli.

Hashem and reliever James Palmer limited the previously hot Chiefs offense to just three hits, two singles from Mike Barbati and a sixth inning single by Matt Lawlor.

Marsters allowed seven hits, struck out four and walked two batters.

The Chiefs, now 10-7-5, return to action on Thursday when they host the Watertown Reds at Tufts University starting at 6:00 PM. Righthanded ace Keith Forbes is expeceted to draw the starting pitching assignment.
