Former Royal caught on TV

Posted by Kettering Royals on Apr 06 2014 at 05:00PM PDT
For those Reds fans that may have been watching the Reds 2014 Opening Day "Day Game" you may have seen a face you might have recognized.  In the bottom of the 3rd Reds Outfielder Chris Heisey hit a towering foul ball into the second row of the stands where former Kettering Royal, Chris Smith ('10-'12) just happened to be seated.  Smith stood tall in his seat tracking the foul ball that Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams was also tracking, but Smith had position on the ball and made the catch over Adams glove to give Heisey new life.  What followed after the catch though wasn't very family friendly, but did the catch did get the sports shows and internet buzzing about the contact between player and fan.  It was pretty crazy to see a former teammate in the center of all the buzz.  Great Catch, but remember to keep it classy as you never know who is watching you.  Have to always set a good example for those little eyes and ears that share our passion for the game of baseball. image
