After their long winter slumber, the Boys in Blue joined up to share some stories of old and predictions for the future. Still high of their near miss at the 2006 MVABL championship the Royals hope that they can rebuild and get back to the final game in 2007.
The Boys in Blue have lost some key names off the 2006 roster already. Hanging up the spikes and following in the shoes of Bill Murray from Caddy Shack, Ron Runyon has moved into the next chapter of his career living the dream as a golf pro. #14 will be missed in the dugout, but he says to keep him on the on-call list as he may still get the itch to play!! Also missing from the 2007 roster is crafty Ryan "Rhino" Hall. Ryan will be working as a casino boat skipper along the Ohio River trying to win that keno jackpot. The Skipper is still in talks with UD, who has finally had enough of party animal Andrew O'Donnell, and graduating him this spring. However, OD says the dollar signs coming from a job offer in Charolette out weigh the sunflower seeds and gatorade offered for him to re-sign with the Royals. Stay tuned to the Royals newswire for more details on OD as they unfold. Royals slugger and flame-thower, Nick Bironey has been MIA during recent contract talks. Royals management hopes to convice Biron to return for a second season with the team. And the final name missing from the full-time 2007 roster, Director of Southern Player Personnel Dan Losito. Losito is trying to wrap up his degree as a volcanologist this summer, but he will try to make make time for an appearance periodically throughout the summer for the Royals.
The Royals will have their first cage session this Sunday to get the season started. Anticipated start of the 2007 season is April 15th, which leaves only 5 short weeks to prepare for opening day. Dust off those cleats as the 2007 season is almost here!
