The 2006 10 & Under Lake Shore Lightning won the Midway Orange Crush Pony Invitational Tournament in Wilmington, Delaware this past weekend. The Lightning gplayed three games on Saturday winning two of the three scheduled games. The Lightning won their first game against the South Jersey Gators and their final game against the South Jersey Rage. Unfortunately, the Lightning lost to their nemesis the Philadelphia Spirit in a close game of 2-1 which earned them the #3 seed for Sunday. The Lightning played and won their first game against the Midway Orange Crush which allowed them to face the South Jersey Gators again. The Lightning beat the Gators taking them to the Championship game. The Lightning were looking forward to playing the Philadelphia Spirit in a rematch but the Spirit lost to the South Jersey Rage which matched the South Jersey Rage against the Lake Shore Lightning in the Championship game. The Lake Shore Lightning won their final game and were named the Midway Orange Crush Champions. The 2006 10 & Under Lake Shore Lightning travel to Horsham, Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend to participate in the Banshees Bash - Pony Qualifier.
The Lake Shore Lightning played 3 pool games on Saturday losing the first game to the Philadelphia Spirit (6-1) and winning the next two games against Central Pennsylvania Krunch (4-0) and Brewster Rockets (20-0). Then on Sunday the Lightning won all 3 pool games against the Maryland Chill (15-0), Lady Thunder (11-1), and Donegal/Rheems Stingers (11-0) earning them the #1 seed for Monday's games. After beating the Maryland Chill in their first game Monday the Lightning faced the Lady Thunder and won taking them to the Finals. The Championship game brought the Lightning back to face the Philadelphia Spirit. Although it was a very tough game the Philadelphia Spirit eventually won 3-2 giving the Lake Shore Lightning Team 2nd place. Next week the Lightning head to Wilmington Delaware where they will once again face the Philadelphia Spirit in the Midway Orange Crush Pony Invitational Tournament.
After winning their 2 scheduled games on Saturday the Lake Shore Lightning were seeded number 1. On Sunday the team played the Bayside Blues in a very close game of 6-5 which advanced the Lightning to the semi-finals to play the Diamond State Swoop once again. The win of this game allowed Lake Shore to advance to the Championship game against the Vienna Stars who Lake Shore had several weeks earlier played and lost. The first 4 innings were a pitching battle with both teams being unable to score. Finally, Lake Shore was able to obtain some hits and score 3 runs allowing the Lightning to take the lead and eventually win the game. Hannah Tavik was awarded MVP for her outstanding performance during the game. Lake Shore Lightning travel to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania next weekend to participate in the Pony Memorial Day Madness Tournament.
The Lake Shore Lightning win the NSA May Madness Tournament this past weekend. This is the 10 & Under's second championship in the past two weeks. The girls did an exceptional job hitting the ball. There were numerous homeruns on both Saturday and Sunday. Jacqueline Richards had two beautiful homeruns on Saturday while Brittany Jones had a homerun on Saturday and another on Sunday. Taylor Dittmar also hit a fantastic homerun on Saturday. The Lake Shore Lightning team and fans look forward to this weekends Heat at the Beach Tournament in Delaware.

NSA Central Maryland Champions

The 2006 Lake Shore Lightning 10 & Under team win the NSA Central Maryland Tournament. The Lightning had 3 wins and 1 tie over two days at the Carroll County Sports Complex in Westminster, Maryland. It was enough to earn the team the title of 2006 NSA Central Maryland Champions.
