2006 Cook County Invitational Pursuit Race! Date: Friday, February 3, 2006. Where: Pincushion Mtn Ski Area On the Gunflint Trail. (Co. Rd. 12 is the Gunflint Trail ­ new alignment, turn left off Hi-way 61 in Grand Marais, go about three miles to the Pincushion scenic overlook Šthat is Pincushion Mtn Area) turn right. Warming house and primitive toilets on site. Coaches meeting & bib pickup 10:00: AM at Pincushion warming house. ORDER OF START (Enter as many skiers as you want) 11:00 am start running clock. Racers double start at 30 second intervals. Event Boy's Varsity Classic 5K Girl's Varsity Classic 5K Boy's Jr High Classic 2.5K Girl's Jr High Classic 2.5K 1:00 pm restart running clock (20 minute gap between last Boy/first Girl) Event Boy's Varsity 5K Freestyle Pursuit Starts Boy's Varsity 5K Freestyle Only (double interval starts) Girl's Varsity 5K Freestyle Pursuit Starts Girl's Varsity 5K Freestyle Only (double interval starts) Mixed Relay - 4x1K. Start after all other races finished. Freestyle. 2 boys - 2 girls per team. May include one coach per team! One team per school qualifies for prize. NOTE: The Jr. High race this year is for classical technique and shall be for 7th through 9th grades. Varsity skiers can ski both races (pursuit), or just either one. The freestyle varsity pursuit skiers will begin in the order of their classic finish at the interval they finished behind the leader. Individual freestyle only skiers will follow behind pursuit skiers. Cost: $4 per skier for single race and $6 per skier for pursuit. Make checks payable to North Superior Ski & Run Club. (No additional cost for Relay, but skier must be registered for individual race. Race fees must be paid before race start to participate!) AWARDS: Individual top 10 in classic, freestyle, pursuit and Jr. High events. Medals 1-5,Ribbons 6-10 Team plaques 1-2-3. Team Prizes for top 3 in Relay! Award presentations will be at Pincushion warming house immediately following race. The Grand Marais Municipal Pool (with whirlpool & sauna) will be open from noon to 8PM. A book of 10 tickets can be purchased there...Make a day of it!
