Sorcerer Scores 32 Runs in Las Vegas JO Classic

Posted by Derrick Burns on Jun 10 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Sorcerer started the weekend a little slow on Saturday scoring only 4 runs in 2 games, but Sunday Sorcerer was back to normal scoring 28 runs in 3 games. Shenise Cox started the slugfest during the first game on Sunday with a beautiful homerun to deep right center field. Whitney Shaw then delivered another homerun during the very next at bat. But Shenise was not to be outdone, for in her next at bat she delivered yet another homerun to seal what turned into a 12-0 victory over the competition.

On Sunday Katie Fleury got her back cracking, uhhh, literally. Demonstrating the power of a 4-hitter, Fluery snapped her bat in two pieces as she gave a powerful swing at an inside fastball.

Refusing to allow her teammates to have all the fun, Jordan Wallace crushed two monster blasts to left field. With fences some 350 ft away, Jordan crossed the plate before the ball could be thrown into the infield!

And repeating her performance of two weeks ago in Stockton, Maya Burns demonstrated her own power hitting, getting 6 hits in 7 at bats on Sunday with a sequence of ground balls that found gaps or were simply toooo hot to handle.

In all, Sorcerer scored 32 runs, won 4 games, and gave up 1 in the Las Vegas JO Classic Showcase.

Sorcerer has scored a total on 91 runs in 18 games. Sorcerer now has 14 wins and 4 losses in summer competition.
