Posted by Derrick Burns on May 27 2007 at 05:00PM PDT
Sorcerer starting off the summer season this Memorial Day weekend with a bang at the Running Rebel Gold Shootout in Stockton, CA. Scoring 34 runs in 8 games, Sorcerer gave competitors a taste of its hitting power.

On day one, Jordan Wallace led the Sorcerers in the power hitting department with 2 triples in 3 games. However, it was Maya Burns who demonstrated the most consistency at the plate, with 6 hits in 7 at bats, including one triple to deep left-center field in the third game. Also contributing triples were Ashley Rose and Whitney Shaw, who belted the ball deep into the outfield.

On day two, the power hitting leader was Shenise Cox, who belted back to back triples interrupted by a beautiful diving catch of her own in center field. However, it was Kasey Tydingco who drove in a total of 3 runs in 2 at bats, resulting in a 5-4 win over perennial rival San Jose Sting.

On day three, Katie Fleury demonstrated why she was selected CalHiSports Player of the Week two weeks ago with a 200+ ft. hit to left field. With a 254 ft. fence, Katie was forced to settled for a triple.

Sorcerer continues its summer season next Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM against the Strike Zone 18 Gold at the Grapettes June Classic in Stockton.
