Sorcerer outfielder Shenise Cox has verbally committed to accept a scholarship to the University of New Mexico. The Lobos, coached by Ty Singleton, are members of the Mountain West Conference.

Cox has been an all-league performer at Deer Valley High School in Antioch, Calif., where she has played outfield, third base and catcher. She primarily patrolled left field for this year's summer team.

Shenise, who recently returned from an unofficial visit to New Mexico, selected the Lobos over a number of other schools extending offers. New Mexico is the right fit for her, she said, having been impressed by the University, Singleton and his staff, their commitment to building a winning program, the softball facility, and Albuquerque, where the school is located.

Shenise joined Sorcerer Gold-Phil, from Sorcerer Gold-Pete, where she played last fall, She is the third summer team player to verbal in recent weeks. Other commitments are expected soon.

Congratulations, Shenise!
