South Charlotte Panthers

MICHAEL MELTON committed to Presbyterian College to attend school and play baseball next year. Michael will join the Blue Hose in their first season to play at the D1 level in 2008.
Michael and his East Rutherford Cavalier teammates recently won the North Carolina State 2A Championship series over North Lenoir. Michael was a leading hitter and pitcher for the Cavs and ended his high school career with bookend state championships his freshman and senior years.

Kyle Greenwalt became the first South Charlotte Panther player taken in the Major League Baseball Draft when he was selected by the Houston Astros in the 20th Round!
Kyle and the Souderton Big Red Indians will play in the Pennsylvania State Finals after beating Cumberland Monday.

Congratulations and Good Luck in the finals to Kyle.

Part time Panther David Mailman was selected in the seventh round of the MLB draft by the Boston Red Sox. Congrats go out to David on his selection.

The SW4A All Conference team has been announced. Panther players selected were:

Preston Shuey - South Meck High School. Preston was also named his teams Most Valuable Player for this season.

Byron McKoy - Independence High School

Richie Shaffer - Providence High School. Richie has been chosen to the NC Coaches Association All State Team and the Region 6 North Carolina State Games Team.

Part time Panther David Mailman was named the Player of the Year in the SW4A Conference and All State Co-Player of the Year by the NC Coaches Association.
