PERFECT GAME UNDERCLASS - ELITE 8 / SCP PLACES 8 ON ALL TOURNY TEAM

Eight SCP players were welected to the events Perfect Game All Tournament Team.

SCP 2015 AUSTIN LEONARD had a complete game one hit shutout on the mound versus Team Georgia. Austin took a no hitter into the seventh inning and with two outs gave up a questionable grounder down the third base line for the only hit.

SCP 2015 OMAR BAUTISTA got the Cats off to a great start in pool play with a complete game shutout win over Baseball U. Omar struck out 4 in his team leading elenth victory of the season.

SCP 2015 GARRETT DAVILA finished the weekend 1-0 on the mound in two outings. Garrett struck out 9 and gave up 0 runs.

SCP 2016 BAILEY MEEKS started and picked up the victory on the mound in the Cats championship round of 32 victory over the D Bats. Bailey also pitched earlier in the weekend struck out 4 and gave up 0 runs in 6 innings pitched.

SCP 2015 COREY WATT finished the weekend 7 for 17 (.412) and collected 2 doubles and 5 stolen bases. Corey made no less than 4 ESPN quality plays in the field and also contributed on the mound in the quarter finals game.

SCP 2016 ANDREW ROBINSON hit .368 (7 for 19) with 3 doubles; 7 runs scored and 6 stolen bases. Andrew also picked up the win on the mound in the Cats Round of 16 victory over Chicago Elite.

SCP 2016 LUKE ROBINSON was 6 for 19 (.316) with 2 doubles and 6 RBIs.

SCP 2015 JORDAN GREENE hit. 304 (7 for 23) with 3 doubles and 7 runs scored including the tying run after a 2 out double in a key pool play game.


Big plays and drama prevailed as the quarter final game came down to 4 extra inning tie breakers that ended on the wrong side of the ledger as the Panthers lost in the Perfect Game Underclass Worlds; finishing in the final 8 of the 208 team event. The Panthers left everything on the field and exited Jet Blue Stadium with their heads held high. The game will go down as a "classic" observed a prominent college coach who was one of a host of coaches in attendance to see the showdown with eventual tournament champion Orlando Scorpions Prospects.

Leading Hitters: Josh Hiatt 1-2 (SAC); Jason Curtis 1-2.


Round of 16

The Cats earned a little pay back in the round of 16 by beating Elite Baseball - Chicago. EBC knocked SCP out in the PG WWBA 16U last summer in the Round of 8 in a down to the wire game. In the pay back 10-2 victory Andrew Robinson (8-1) pitched a complete game in the win.

Leading Hitters: Luke Robinson 3-3 (2B/3RBI); Josh Hiatt (2-2) 2RBI; Andrew Robinson 1-1 (2B/2RS). Trevor Clemons stole 4 bases.


Round of 32

SCP knocked out the D Bats from Texas in a run rule shortened 11-1 victory. Bailey Meeks (7-0) earned the win with 4 innings; giving up one and striking out 3. Brett Shapcott closed the door on the mound versus the Bats,

Leading Hitters: Corey Watt 3-3 (3RBI/3SB); Jason Curtis 2-2 (3RBI).


Round of 64

A big win over a strong DeMarini Hayes team started the Panthers in the 64 team play off rounds. Garrett Davila (8-0) pitched 4 strong innings before giving away to Baron Rupp for the Hold and Jake Holtzapple for the Save.

Leading Hitters: Andrew Robinson 2-2 (2B/RBI); Jordan Greene 2-2 (2B/3RBI); Jake Holtzapple 1-2 (2B/RBI); Ausar Rankin 1-3 (3B).


Pool Play

The Panthers started pool play versus the always strong Baseball U Prospects (NJ) at the Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training Complex. Omar Bautista (11-1) pitched a complete game shutout over the Prospects for his team leading eleventh win of the season.

Leading Hitters: Corey Watt 1-2 (RBI/2SB); Cal Raleigh 1-3.


In the second game of the day at the Boston Red Sox Jet Blue Complex the Cats faced off in a pitchers duel versus Team Victus (NJ). David Nash started and pitched well for the Panthers followed by Bailey Meeks and Garrett Davila. The Panthers struggled to put runs on the board but down 2-1 with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh; Jordan Greene doubled and was driven in by a 2 strike double by Andrew Robinson to tie the game.


In a "Win and In" final pool game the Panthers faced off versus long time rival Team Georgia. Austin Leonard (8-1) pitched a masterpiece and shut down the Georgians with a no hitter into the seventh and only giving up a suspect foul ball hit with 2 outs for the complete game shutout victory. Five Panthers collected 2 hits including Jordan Greene; Jake Holtzapple; Luke Robinson; Josh Hiatt and Ausar Rankin.
