SC PANTHERS COMPLETE SUMMER 2008 SEASON

The 2009 Panthers completed their summer season with a 3-1 record in the Dynamic Baseball/Carolina Canes Tournament in Greenville, NC. The 09's failed to advance on run rules and finished the summer with a 27-14-5 record.

Mat Batts (4-2); Corbin Shive (8-0) and Jordan Hudson (1-0) earned wins on the mound. Recent App State Commit Tyler Tewell hit a 3 run home run in the game 1 victory. More game details to follow.

The 2010 Panthers ended their summer on a low note with a 0-3 record in the Impact UNCW Tournament for a 29-11 summer ending record.

Highlights were C Brian Holberton finished the weekend 5 for 7 including 2 doubles and 5 RBI's. Brian entered the final game knowing he could sit the game out with a .500 average for the summer season yet elected to hit and in spite of driving 3 balls to fence went 1 for 3 and ended his summer with a Panther record .495 average going 46 for 93.

RF Trevor Hovis completed the weekend 4 for 6 with a double; a home run and 5RBI's. The hot hitting Hovis ended the summer with a .375 average. Trevor will now be hitting bodies this fall as he will help lead the South Meck Sabres on the football field from a line backer position.

3B Jake Watson ended the weekend 2 for 5. Jake will join RF Ty Linton; also 2 for 5 for the weekend; and Luke Bard on the Charlotte Christian football team where they will help lead the Knights on the gridiron.

2009 Panther Spencer Shuey will be the focus locally; state wide and nationally on the grid iron as he enters his senior season for the South Meck Sabres. Spencer is high on many NC prospects list and will hold down a line backer and running back spot for the Sabres.

Ryan Butler threw 2 innings of shut out ball in a start on Friday night. After a rain suspension Ryan returned to Charlotte where he will compete this fall as a reciever for the Ardrey Kell Knights on the football field.

Ethan Ledbetter ended his summer going 2 for 4 with 2 stolen bases and a .313 average before taking to the grid iron for the Mt. Pleasant Tigers. Ethan will be putting his max effort game on the football field for the Tigers this fall as they look to defend their conference title.
