Winning Pitcher: Corey Roberts (4-3)

Lead off hitter Tyler Miller led the game off with a shot over the left field fence to get the Panthers off to a good start in game one of the 2008 Impact World Series. Tyler finished the game 3 for 5 at the plate. Richie Shaffer was 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs including an inside the park home run and a double. Casey Gebhardt and C.A. Clayton both collected 2 hits for the game and Tyler Tewell; Shane Basen; Corbin Shive and Brian Holberton all had a hit.

Starting pitcher Corey Roberts threw 4 innings; giving up 3 hits and a run. Justin Setzer and Joseph Shealy closed the game out giving up no runs.

GAME 2

Winning Pitcher: Jesse Brewer (6-1)

The Cats fell behind 0-2 in the top of the first and then came back to tie the game up in their half. Starting pitcher Justin Lykins settled down and threw 3.66 innings while the offense generated the winning run in the third against the Prep Star righty. Jesse Brewer came on in relief in the fourth and struck out 3 in 2 innings of work for the win. Richie Shaffer finished the game off for a save with a bases loaded strike out.

Tyler Miller stayed hot with 2 hits including a double. Other Panthers collecting hits were Richie Shaffer; Tyler Tewell and Shane Basen.

GAME 3

East Cobb Saints  0..............................................0.....4.....2

Winning Pitcher: Corbin Shive (7-0)

The Cats scored 3 runs in the first and did not look back behind the shut out pitching of Corbin Shive. Shive took his record to 7-0; scattering 4 hits and striking out 3 for the victory.

The Panther hitters were led by Shane Basen 2 for 3. Others getting hits were Seth Neely; Richie Shaffer; C.A. Clayton; Casey Gebhardt and Josh Greene.

GAME 4

Tri State Arsenal  3..................................................3.....5.....2

The Panthers lost in the seventh inning on an unearned run. The loss ended the Cats chance to advance to the finals and ended their weekend of play.

Mat Batts in relief took the hard luck loss after pitching effectively for 3 innings. Panthers collecting hits were Josh Greene; Corey Roberts; Corbin Shive; Seth Neely and Tyler Tewell.

The 2009 Panthers next game will be in Greenville, NC at the Dynamic World Series.
