WHIT MERRIFIELD AWARDED OMAHA STORM CHASERS MVP
SCP 2007 WHIT MERRIFIELD was voted the Most Valuable Player for the Omaha Storm Chasers AAA team. Omaha; which is the AAA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals won the Western AAA Championship in a 7 game series over Reno and then captured the National Championship with a victory in Charlotte over the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Whit led the Storm Chasers in hitting with a .340 batting average; scoring 57 runs and hitting 28 doubles. He was presented the Most Valuable Player Award at the Kansas City versus Detriot Tigers game on Friday night September 19. Coach Don had the honor of being in attendance to see Whit presented his award.
Whit will play winter league ball in Mexico before a short break to prep for the Royals big league camp where he will compete to make the big league club this spring.
