SOUTH CHARLOTTE PANTHERS - COLLEGE SENIOR ALUMNI UPDATE

SCP Alums made an impact on and off of the baseball diamond in their careers. Listed is a brief update on SCP 2009/2010 grads that completed their college careers this season.

ALEXANDER TOMASOVICH - Charleston Southern

Alex was a four year starter at SS/3B for the Bucs and ended his his career as the All Time Hits (253) and Doubles (53) leader in the program. He was selected to the Big South First Team All Conference Team his senior season; was named BS Player of the Week three times and had the longest hitting streak (25 games) in the nation this year. Alex had a career .331 Batting Average with 100 RBIs. He has graduated and is currently working on a Masters degree; has been named to the BS All Academic Team and was awarded the school's Hunter Cup awarded to the Top Student Athlete. ALEX was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 20th round of the MLB Draft.

MAT BATTS (2009) - University of North Carolina Wilmington

Mat ended his college career as one of the all time leading pitchers in the UNCW program. He won 23 games in his career and was named First Team CAA Conference;CAA Conference Pitcher of the Year and was an ABCA All Region First Team selection his junior season. Mat was named third team CAA and first team All Tournament his sophomore season. MAT was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 17th round of the MLB Draft.

AARON ATTAWAY - Western Carolina

A four year starter at SS for the Catamounts; Aaron had to fight through an injury plaqued senior season. In his junior season Aaron was named to the Southern Conference First Team and was named to the pre season Brooks Wallace Watch List as well as a semi finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. A career .325 hitter and .940 fielder, Aaron completed his WCU career with 262 hits. AARON was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 20th round of the MLB Draft.

COREY ROBERTS (2009) - University of North Carolina Charlotte

Corey began his college career at UNCC earning Freshman All American honors and was selected to the A10 Conference All Rookie Team. In his career he was awarded A10 Pitcher of the Week honors two times. Fighting injuries during his career Corey came back his senior season to lead the 49ers in innings pitched. Corey's career numbers were 14 Wins and 174 strike outs in 213 Innings pitched.

CORBIN SHIVE (2009) - University of North Carolina Charlotte

Corbin was one of the true two way players in college. He finished his career with a .308 average/8 HR/40 RBIs at the plate and earned 3 wins and 3 saves on the mound with 30 career appearances. Corbin was named an A10 All Rookie his freshman season. Off the field and in the classroom Corbin achieved multiple honors including CUSA and A10 All Academic Team. CUSA Commissioners Academic Medal; 5 Time UNCC Chancellors List; 1 Time UNCC Deans List. Corbin has graduated with honors and is currently completing his Masters Degree in Accounting.

JORDAN HUDSON - University of North Carolina Charlotte

Jordan completed his career with over 60 appearances on the mound and had 3 Wins and 3 Saves. In addition to pitching he became a two way player his senior season where he hit .289 in over 100 ABs. Jordan has graduated with honors earning multiple Athletic Directors and Deans List Honors and is currently working on his Masters in Accounting.

HUNTER MAY - University of North Carolina Charlotte

Hunter completed his college career at UNCC after stops at Marshall and Pitt CC. In his junior campaign at UNCC Hunter finished with an 8-1 record on the mound which tied him for second in the A10 Conference.

RAFAEL GONZALEZ - Winston Salem State

Rafael was a four year starter in college where he was a career .340 hitter with 40 doubles and over 120 RBIs. Raffy never hit below .300 or fell below 30 RBIs in a season in his career. In his junior season Raffy helped lead WSS to the NCAA Division 2 Super Regionals and Conference Championships and was named to the All Region Team.

ERIC BRENK - Wofford University

Eric was a three year starting 3B/SS for the Terriors and his senior season helped lead Wofford to the programs all time most victories. He was a career .275 hitter and has garnered Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll Honors in each of his four seasons. 

SETH NEELY - Wofford University

Seth finished his career at Wofford in this record breaking Wins season as the leading Terrior hitter. He hit over .300 with 10 HRs and 22 Stolen Bases. Prior to Wofford while at Spartanburg Methodist Seth helped lead SMU to the NJCAA World Series.

PATRICK McMAHON - University of North Carolina Pembroke

P Mac finished his career at UNCP with a 9-1 record with 5 Saves on the mound. He had 70 strike outs in 70 innings pitched and led the team in appearances his sophomore and junior seasons.

BRIAN HOLBERTON - University of North Carolina / Houston Astros

After helping lead the Tar Heels to 2 NCAA College World Series appearances Brian was drafted and signed with the Houston Astros following his junior season. In college Brian was an ACC First Team All Conference selection his sophomore season and was a leading hitterboth  his sophomore and junior seasons. Playing for the Astros Quad City team Brian recently hit for the cycle and is currently leading the league in batting average as well as being named the Astros Minor League Position Prospect of the Month in May.
