Eligibility to Play |
Age: HLL is open to players with a playing age of 5 to 16 inclusive. To determine a player's Playing Age, Click Here for Baseball or Click Here for Softball. Residency: HLL is open to players living within our boundaries. Little League allows some exceptions to the residency requirements which are handled on a case-by-case basis. For instance, a player who played in HLL for the last two years but who has moved outside the league boundaries may possibly be able to receive a waiver to continue to play in HLL. Little League sets the criteria for how a player is considered a resident of our boundaries; in general, if either of the player's parents OR a player's court-appointed legal guardian resides within the boundaries. Questions: For eligibility questions, please contact our league president Nevin Kilmer. |
Tryouts
BASEBALL All baseball players that are League Age 10, 11, or 12 MUST attend a minimum of 50% of the evaluation sessions if not assigned a Little League team from last year. League Age will be player's age on April 30th, 2008. You are encouraged to attend both sessions. If a player candidate does not attend either session for Little League, that player will automatically be placed in the Minor League unless an excuse is presented and accepted. There will be NO cuts in Little League. Little League teams will only draft the number of players they need to fill out their roster. Evaluations of 9 year old baseball players are not mandatory. Players League age 9 must make their intentions known at registration if they are to be included in the evaluations sessions. If there is no intent shown, that player will automatically be placed in the Minor League. The player will not be eligible for call-up to a Little League team during the season. Evaluations are designed to help the League determine the best placement of players, based on their skill level. All 13 year old baseball players MUST attend evalualtions. All 14 year old baseball players that were not on a team last year MUST attend evaluations. Only 1 tryout session will be held.
SOFTBALL Any Girls Softball Players 9 -12 years old who are new to our league or were not on a team last year MUST attend evaluations. League Age will be the player’s age on December 31, 2008. All 13 year old girls softball players MUST attend evalualtions. All 14 year old girls softball players that were not on a team last year MUST attend evaluations. Only 1 tryout session will be held. If a player does not attend the evaluation session, that player’s name will go in a blind draw at the draft for selection to a team.
During the evaluation session, each candidate will be given the opportunity to bat/bunt, field fly balls, field ground balls, throw and run with children having the same league age. Players need to bring a glove. The individual managers will grade each of the skills. Please arrive at the ball fields 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Please dress warm. You may turn in candy money that day also.
