Dorsey Parking

Posted by Beth Johnson at Mar 1, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
While playing on the Dorsey field please do NOT park your cars on 20th Street, the street immediately north of the Dorsey Field. Instead, parents should drop off players at Valley and park at the spots provided there. Managers and coaches may drive in on 20th Street to drop off equipment, but should immediately move their vehicles to parking on Valley. Thank you for your cooperation.

Come see the big parade!

Posted by Dennis Kane at Feb 27, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Opening Day ceremonies on Saturday, March 4 start with the big parade. The kids march in full uniform with the team manager, coaches, and some moms and dads (T-Ball only, please.) Actually, it would be good for the moms and dads to be in the crowd so that the players have someone to wave to. Participants should park near American Martyrs and walk down to the staging area between 15th and MBB on Valley, which will be closed to traffic. Teams and their families should be in the staging area by 8:45. We will be marching promptly at 9:00. This year, there will be colored balloons marking the dividing lines between Leagues. The colors which correspond to the Leagues are: Majors Softball - Red Pacific Softball - Dark Blue National Softball - Yellow Junior Hardball - Green Major Hardball - Purple American Softball - Orange International Hardball - White Coast Hardball - Brown California Hardball - Pink T-Ball - Light Blue Make sure that you stay for opening day ceremonies at Martyrs Field following the parade. The MLL will provide free ice cream and baseballs (one per player, please.) Immediately following the ceremonies, there will be a Home Run Derby at the American Martyrs Field as well as Re-Opening Ceremonies for the Live Oak field (at Live Oak just before the 11:30am International Game.) Finally note that most teams will be taking their team picture some time during the day following the opening ceremonies. Players should bring their gloves for the picture. Two-hour Baseball Clinic This Sunday

Posted by Dennis Kane at Feb 22, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The ALS Association is holding a fantastic 2 hour Baseball Clinic on February 26 to raise funds and awareness for ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a fatal progressive neuromuscular disease. Each day 15 Americans are diagnosed and only 50 percent will survive longer than 3 years. ALS will rob the individual of their ability to walk, to sit, to speak, to swallow, and eventually to breathe. The event is this Sunday (2/26) from 10-12 at Dorsey Field. Guest speakers will include Mike Niely, the Varsity Coach from the world famous Mira Costa Mustangs and former LA Dodger speadster Rudy Law. The coaching staff includes Chris Pritchett (UCLA, Angels minor and major league player), several Manhattan Little League coaches and the coaching staff from the House of Hardball. The event will be covered by KCAL Ch. 9 and the local papers. The cost for the clinic is a tax deductible donation of $40.00 or more with checks made out directly to the ALS Association - Greater Los Angeles Chapter. To register for this very popular event please e-mail or call directly as the clinic fills up very quickly. To Sign up: Robert, Dave, Jane and Lauren Davis jcgd@ aol.com (310)937-7586
