MBLL Fall Ball Update

Posted by Beth Johnson on Sep 01 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
Thank you for registering for Manhattan Little League's Fall Baseball League. You should be contacted by a Manager early next week informing you of your child's placement. If you know anybody considering registering, please have them register ASAP, as registration will close soon. If your son is playing soccer, and you know your soccer practice schedule, please reply with that information. This will help with assembling teams. We have made some minor changes to the Fall Ball program based on input from families. We have also needed to accommodate soccer schedules, including AYSO needs for fields. MAJORS There will be two games per week. One game will be played on Saturday at 4pm. The second game will be played at 5:30pm on either Tuesday or Wednesday. There will be four teams in the league. Two teams will play on Tuesday and the other two teams will play on Wednesday. All Tuesday and Wednesday games will be at Live Oak Park. We will adjust the teams and games based on information we receive about Tuesday and Wednesday soccer practices. On September 9th there will not be any games. Instead, MLL will offer pitching, hitting and fielding training with professional coaches. Information on this will follow. The season will end on Saturday, November 11th, not Saturday November 18th as outlined before. MB schools will recess earlier for the Thanksgiving holiday and many families will be gone on the weekend of the 18th. This will also finish the season before the MBMS science camp on the week of November 13th through the 17th. MINORS There will be one game per week and one practice/scrimmage per week. One game will be played on Saturday at 4pm, not Sunday as earlier described. Sundays were difficult for many families with religious, soccer, and family conflicts. Practices/scrimmages will be at Live Oak on Mondays or Thursdays. We will adjust teams/practices based on the information you provide on soccer practices. Attendances at Fall Ball practices has been poor in the past, so we are bringing in scrimmages to improve attendance. On September 9th there will not be any games. Instead, MLL will offer pitching, hitting and fielding training with professional coaches. Information on this will follow. The season will end on Saturday, November 11th, not Saturday November 18th as outlined before.
