Grandview 3rd Grader sells over 330 Raffle Tickets!

Posted by Dennis Kane on Mar 29 2006 at 04:00PM PST
Michael Costa, a Grandview 3rd grader and player for the Coast White Sox, received a Meritorious Community Service award from Manhattan Little League President Dennis Kane last week for selling over 330 raffle tickets prior to Opening Day. Michael is playing his 5th year for Manhattan and this is the 3rd consecutive year of being our top ticket seller. When asked how he did it, Michael replied "First I sold 50, then the next thing I knew I had sold 200. I called a bunch of people and worked with my grandma and dad and met my goal topping out at over 330!" Michael's favorite sport is baseball and enjoys both watching and playing the sport. His most fun baseball experience was hitting a grand slam on his 2005 Cal team. He had a total of 3 HRs that year. When asked if he had any words for his fellow players Michael replied "I challenge all my fellow Manhattan players to sell a lot of tickets and beat me next year!" Mr. Kane noted that proceeds from raffle tickets defray costs and along with revenue from snack stands and our sponsors help to keep our fees low.image
